I did some work today, so here's part two.
The batch I'm working with today are SODK x Ghost Ltd Edition, They had been in this drying space for 6 days.
The outsides were getting pretty crispy, but the bud is not dried through completely.
First I remove as much of the stalks as I can, All the big ones. I disgard them, but if you have a strain that produces trichomes on the stems, or don't want to waste them, you could boil them in some milk for a cup of tea, or save them to make some 'stem art'
I also remove any larger fans or yellowed crispy leaves.
Now it's time to crumble, Just lightly by hand, removing any extra stems as I go. No more than a couple of minutes of effort here can do 2-3 plants.
We previously used to just overdry our buds to crumble more easily, howeverfrom experience I now think it's less kind to the seeds when the material and in particular the little sticks and stems are hard and dry, no real damage but it could remove the markings on the shell (some strains it comes off very easily regardless - 24 carat for example) but for aesthetics of the end product this is how I now do it.
With there still being some moisture in the material, it really fluffs up. You could remove the seeds at this point, but for my process it's more work.
Here you can see the consistency of the material and the goodies within
The now condensed material now gets folded up into a little package (note the opening, I don't encase it completely.)
The package will now go back on to the drying shelves for 2-3 days more, and then the next part of the process can begin!
cheers!
