Look at my old left mutant - same strains same age same conditions and feed.

Just for difference (not scientific, just for observation)

Well considering she's growing strongly in the past week, and Im taking pictures day to day to compare, and this is the first plant ever for me, I think I'll see how she does.
So the consensus is that this plant simply is a mutant seedling, and nothing else?
Could these deformities be from hot soil, or windburn or UV light exposure?

The new leaves seem to be growing just fine so I think you should continue and just see how it goes, autos tend to do their own thing anyway, just keep watering her and since you're using foxfarm just chillax and don't feed for a while, I seem some mutant plants pull aweomse yields and even if you don't,you have a auto,they tend to only pull between 2-4 oz on average with new growers usually getting about 1-2 is 1st grow. I wouldn't stress. Keep her healthy. You doing a great job

Hey there! Looks like a mutant! You could keep it going for practice, but you may want to consider a back up plan, just in case this mutant grow turns out to be less than "fruitful".

Personally, my backup plan would be to start another one and pull the mutant up. In 14 days from sprout the seedling should be about that size, I'm not sure how old the the one above is.

What ever you decide, good luck with the grow!

OMG that might have been the holy grail of bud! Now you will never know. I love to grow out "Mutants" you never know what you might get. I have not kept score but I would bet I have had more good ones than bad. Oh well!

your call Shaspa, keep or pass...We see this type of leaf deformation and color break fairly often, and it's an even toss if it corrects, ditto for vitality.... I see the color break is still there, but nothing to worry about; no, the fragg'ed leaves will not repair,.... however at 18 days she's close to bloom, maybe 1-2 more set of leaves at best before she shows sex and goes into bloom officially, so I have to disagree with Autobeast about her potential...
From the earlier shot of her, she emerged with these symptoms, and as the leaves grow out, the deformities magnify from uneven growth,... it's possible the soil's richness may have played a role, OF is usually too hot for good starts with seedlings... and their soils are just plain suspect period! Hands down, it's the [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] problem soil to show up in here, and almost always it's a pH related problem,.. I have tested bag after bag in the past, and all show pH's in the low 5's- - waaaay off,... it's a craps shoot with them, some folks get OK bags other get crap,.. local manufacturing and sourcing differences likely,... As for the "lensing" burn, that's out too IMO, symptoms don't match,.... And after many years working with other kinds of plants, my observations are this phenomena is beyond rare and very conditional,... usually it comes from a foliar spray of overly concentrated nutes/supp's or pestcides, which as they dry on the surface become too concentrated and can cause a burn spot....

Thanks for the info. I still think it'll be worth the experience to grow out myself.
Its being grown under a custom LED array, using 3W Epiled's optics removed in conjunction with the T5HO bulbs.
I do have 4 UV(395nm) diodes in the array (not many obviously). Im wondering if the seedling was just too close to these diodes causing mutations. Who knows...?

Either way, maybe next time I will try coco and perlite with dry amendments.
Is anyone doing that here?
Id like to use Dr Earth Organic all purpose, and flower girl dry amendments with the coco and perlite.

.. unless you want to start a whole new learning curve, don't venture into coco yet,.. it's absolutely NOT like true soil, even if it's used as a common component to true soil,.. pure coco is closer to hydro than anything else, with a host of do's and don't's to using it, learning about it's unusual CEC properties and working with that (research research research!), and knowing what you're in for with the higher maintenance it demands,.. you can grow monsters in it, in smaller pots, but it's WORK, or you use some sort of drip system or other "automated" system like Autopots, etc.,... I recommend you stay with good soil and learn the ropes there first,... Dr Earth does make good products, but if you need to know the right ones for canna,... and what isn't covered by their products,... :smoking:
