Do you pH up or down?

So just like the title says, do you pH up and down in organic soil. I've found so many threads saying both things. My tap water bounces between 7-7.5 so I Ph down to 6.5.

My next grow is going to be in super soil, so I guess what I'm trying to ask is am I going to be ok still doing the same thing. Just throwing water in and letting it go to do its own thing seems crazy to me.

Inputing water/nutrients at the proper PH for the media type helps to keep the media in balance. Well prepared soil can buffer a lot of water but it is at a price to the elements in the pot.

OK thank you! I figured just throwing water in was bad practice, but alot of this hobby has surprised me so far.
