New Grower do you top autoflowers

I never top my autos not saying it cant be done I just don't practice it because I feel that they just grow to fast. Muddy just proved it because he said the one he topped took a week longer and I feel he got lucky just having to wait an extra week. to me it sounds silly to top a plant that can grow 1 inch a day.

I say it will work but is a waste of time.

well show me one of ur untopped plants that is as big as my 10 day old topped plant and will talk. my plants can lose a few days to recover.can urs?

Topping is not suggested, not to say don't do it but for new growers I would say don't do it. so to faded I would say leave a disclamer that it should be an advanced growing method......

As has been said it seems to work best on super autos. On the magnums it was very beneficial. The two plants I left untopped averaged 8 oz and the rest were 13.5oz, over 15 colas each plant.

Well im new and my plant is 10 days old and isn't as big so im not going to top I might need to refine my growing techniques first. I just planted in it into organic potting soil and I feed it monty 8 16 8
Any advice?

I rarely top an auto unless it really needs it. I prefer to lift and or shade the leaves on the center cola ... this allows the lower leaves to receive more light. As little as four hours of added light a couple times a week can make a big difference as will shading the top of the cola ... this is easier on the plant and works great. I picked this technique up from another grower that called it pony tailing ... seems like a pretty appropriate name to me and I've pony tailed just about every plant I've grown since trying it ...

It works great for two reasons ... Lifting allows light to the lower leaves causing them to branch out and it slows the growth of the center itself w/o removing it ... sometimes when the center is bunched up like in pic #2 above I'll shade the center to assure that the center is not growing ... this allows all the growth to take place down below ... once I have the branches started I LST all around the outside w/ the emphasis on open and same height ... a healthy Jock Horror can be a tall plant but by turning it into a bush it can be grown in a smaller space with a more uniform canopy ...
