I dont....I grow to help others :-)
Hello!!

I am currently using coco, but was really thinking about using the Mephisto Amendment and soil for my next grow. Anyone have luck with soil in the auto-pots? Do you need to mix the soil with a lot of perlite, or even coco?.....would love to know your results.

XOXO MOM

I've only ever grown With soil. 70/30 with perlite and no balls in the bottom.
I use biotabs in my soil so only water in the res.

I just recently started using autopots and had to do it quickly with what I had on hand. So far, my plants are looking great in roots organic and ocean forest soil. I don't know what percentage perlite they are so don't know if I have to add perlite in the next run.

Nice to meet you DGrowgirl! I know what you mean by doing things quickly...I always put the cart in front of the horse.
I did an airpot grow many years ago with roots organic and ocean forest, it went great. Im just afraid to try it in the AutoPots. Do you have a journal?

I only just set up just before Christmas so my plants wouldn't die while I was away for a week. No journal, but here are some pictures when I got back home. I was pleasantly surprised by the growth over one week.

WOW SWEETIE, great job!....I am going to bombard you with questions, ha ha. Did you hand water them until you put them in the autopots? did you use any nutrients or amendments along the way?

I’m currently using a soil mix that I make myself from 1/3 garden soil, 1/3 perlite,, and 1/3 compost mix of five different kinds of compost. It’s basically the same mix I use in my veggie garden outside. I have also used Biobizz Light soil mix with 1/3 perlite with excellent results. I think soil helps to better buffer the nutrients causing fewer lockouts and pH issues. @pop22 got me started on this after he mentioned using a soil/coco mix for the same reasons. In addition, he no longer dumps it out and starts new every time either. He just cuts the main stem down into the soil and plants a new seed and has done so for a few grows now.

You could even setup an organic super soil in your autopots and just add water to the reservoir.

Thanks, MassMom. I am a newb so I've got lots to learn. I am using Megacrop and Bud Explosion and hand watered prior to using autopots.
