Wow. I've only used RO and always thought it dried out too fast. My local nursery just started carrying Foxfarm Ocean Forest and I've always wanted to try it. I grabbed a bag and figured I'll try it. I grow without liquid nutes so my base soil needs to be great from the start. I'm very impressed with the FfOF!!

Turns out the RO is practically 50% perlite which explains why it always felt like it dried too fast. I'm going to mix them together for this grow and I think I'm done with Roots Organics going forward. What soils or mixture of do you all use?

@GrowingAutos - I have used Roots Organic for the past 6 years and absolutely love it! I even use 1/4 of a bucket of perlite.

I use Advanced Nutrients Iquana juice Grow, bloom and cal magic and no issues at all.

I started in soil with Happy Frog/Ocean Forest/Perlite, then Ocean Forest/Perlite 50/50. I've been in coco for the past several years. I use Coco Loco and I also have their straight coco called Plain Jane Big Boy Pants.

I started with FFOF, and had occasional problems, then I moved on to pro-mix and Coast Of Maine products. I do still use FFHF for starting seeds.

Due to local costs n such i use ffof and coko loko mixed 50/50. Then i add about 10% growstone in the mix to help when the perlite breaks down. Im not saying its the BEST, but at whats available and the time i can invest, its what works.

Had nothing but ph problems with fox farmd ocean forest. Tried mixing it with happy frog 50/50 still had problems not ss severe but still ph swing issues. Switched to promix and no more ph swings around week 5 and 6. That was such a headache.

About half Fox farms ocean forest half happy frog, heavy sprinkling of worm castings and topped with mosquito bits. Nutes are megacrop 2.0 during veg and add bud explosion throughout flower.

Ain’t changing a thing on my end. ;-)
