Mephisto Genetics Double grape isn’t very grapey?

Agreed. Sour Stomper has a super Grspe Candy pheno...unlike Double Grape. Daz released Triple Grape the other day. With a name like thst it shoukd reek of Grapes and be more purple than Grimmace. Doubt either are gonna happen.. it drives me nuts to name something thst doesnt match a description directly in the strain name. It should not be nameed Double Grape and I have ssid that 100x. Great strain, not even Single Grape...let alone Double. peace, slow
Do you know the parents of the triple grape?

I've grown out dbl G 3 times . always rock hard frosty buds but....... They had almost no smell or flavor . I've noticed most autos leave alot to be desired in the smell and taste department . so.... I started growing photos and never looked back

Just because a plant is a Photo strain doesnt mean it has better taste or smells. Ypu have to phemo hunt with photos. I have had plenty of Terpene heavy Autos. That narrow minded point of view went out a long time ago, along with "You cant top an Auto" point of view. Because you cannot keep clones of Autos it is hard to have the exact same results smell and taste wise on the same strain. I will agree with you that Double Grape doesnt have a strong smell, or smell like Grapes. But it is frosty and presses Rosin well. Autos have come a very long way and there are some really good strains out there thst are far superior to most Photos. My Grape Rolex was some of the Frostiest stuff I have done in a very long time. Photo or Auto and I do plenty of each. There are advantages and disadvantages if growing photos and Autos, but lack of taste snd odor is due to genes and often grower error mlre thsn anything. Peace, slow

Well I politely disagree . mephisto gave me plants with rock hard frosty nugs but the smells and flavors were seriously lacking

I've searched for and bought a lot of souvenirs over the years, some simply for reputation, some because of a strains "reported" smell or flavor....
I've finally decided most claims are just merchandising terms used to create more sales and seldom reach an advertised result....but I remain hopeful even with some hyped breeders appear to be pushing out inconsistent strains by exaggerated claims .... I understand different phenos but does that actually explain some poor results?
Being a small grower, starting 3-5 plants per month, I'm always adjusting the que, of course based on previous grow results. Appears some of my collection is falling to a lower tier selection but I still love growing my weed and searching....
Just finished a ghost toof, double grape, northern cheese haze, 4 assed monkey.....if they weren't labeled, they were hard to differentiate in looks, smell or taste...all were good smoke but I do wish they'd actually be close to advertised.

I personally prefer stinky tasty stanky danky and I didn't find that until I started growing photos . maybe my style is better suited towards photos but out of about 30 autos I ran I never found what I was looking for

Smell & taste can be largely in part to how it was dried & cured a well. You can have the most fire, dank smelling stuff on the planet, but if you quick dry it, let it sit too moist in between burps, etc, it will taste like wet-hay yum-yum. The last grow I worked at we had the most SOPHISTICATED drying/curing room you've ever seen, 100% ran by sensors, controls, given a full 10-12 day proper dry on exact temperature and RH measurements, with a vacuum seal for 2 days to ensure proper moisture spreading, etc, and the buds REAKED like chlorophyll because of how they harvested (not even epic shit tons of money and tech can replace a good and proper dry & cure.)

You can have your opinion and I agree that some Autos do lack smells, most likely due to Ruderalis genetic background. But some Autos reek much more than most photos. I have a couple Skunk Special Photo plants, first time I did them.. they look decent. But the smell is not strong at all. Just because they are Photos, does not mean anything. The Grape Rolex Autos I have in the tent right next to it blow the Skunk plants out of the water in every way. So you have done some Mephisto stains, and your quality is not up to par. Growing method and drying/curing go a long way. Anyone that says they did 30+ plants and didnt have good results with any tells me that it is grower error more than anything. If your plants all look and smell similar and are different strains, that is 100% grower related. They should smell and taste differently. Good luck with photos, what photos are you having luck with so far? Peace, slow

What temps and humidity did it get dried at. And how were they harvested that created such a bad chlorophyll smell
