day 61 - the end is near

hola amigas y amigos!

hope you're all well.

it's the final spurt. some pistils have started to turn brown, some leaves color has faded, many calyx are blown up and look like big balls, the buds and their surrounding leaves sparkle in the light, they look like the fresh morning dew has collected on them.

i'm as proud as a peacock.

they received a feeding today; i think it will be their last.

i also cut another few leaves down to give the light way to the buds.

the smell is awesome and really pungent; it has a lot of mint in it, spicy mint.

arrivederci!

:vibe:

Hey SG, The pics are looking much better. I can actually make things out now. Mine are smelling exactly the same way. Very nice spice and mint smell. Really minty. The odor is not overwhelming like I expected. I am actually venting into the garage now with almost no smell at all. It does nicely at keeping my garage warm though! I was expecting them to be a little more pungent this late in the game, regardless, I am very happy with the aroma. Excited about smoking some. How much longer do you think you have?

hey bro,

DP says 70 days; that would be the 7th of april, but i think i'll let it go at least one more week after that.

like you, i'm so eager for trying this plant myself. would be nice to smoke the polarlight on 420, though; my first homegrown bud, the best bud on earth. :head:

but i want the girls to mature properly, so i'm glad to have some decent smoke left from my last purchase, so i will not get too impatient.

quick question

ciao AFN people,

it's about trichomes and all that stuff :D:

since my pots take about 4-5 days to dry, i'm planning to flush the ladies 3 times, that would be, rule of thumb estimated, 12-15 days.

i know it's different from strain to strain, but how fast would the trichomes ripen, on average?

let's say i want to have a good 50/50 milky/amber, when should i start flushing?

any input appreciated!

I tried that yesterday, the live search is the absolute shit! Best search tool I have seen on any forum.

day 72 - it's over

hello female bros and... regular bros! :D

after two good cleanings the smell of the plants is awesome.
today i decided to chop. the trichomes were all cloudy with a good 5% amber.

first of all, the pics...

PIC00002.jpgPIC00003.jpg

didn't measure the wet weight, because i only want to touch as less things as possible with these sticky green rocks. that's right, i said rocks. when cutting of the branches they seem to weigh a lot and were bending under the weight.

i tried to squeeze some of the buds, but they didn't squeeze at all; they were solid. :dance2:

i think due to the low temperatures i kept the plants in (18-19 degrees C with lights off, 22-23 degrees C with lights on).

after the first round of manicuring i had to wash my scissors, because i couldn't open and close them anymore. dayum, that stuff is sticky!

took me about 90 minutes to transform them into some nice looking nuggets. also built me a ghetto drying rack, with some tyvek like stuff applied. it looks like it will do a good thing.

one lady on the left, one on the right.

oh man, i'm as pleased as punch. can't wait to smoke some of that amazing stuff.

i'm coming with the dry weight and the credits in a few days.

so long, keep it green!

Nice one SG, you did an excellent job with those. Nice and healthy to the end. I know you are gonna be very happy with that smoke! I am glad to hear 72 days because I am getting anxious here. That puts me at exactly two weeks from today. Very interested in a smoke report. Mine aren't all that stinky yet, more of a very subdued minty smell. Actually, I am not complaining because I am exhausting under the crawlspace of my house without any carbon filter.

Do you have anything else starting? Shoot me a message with the link if you do.

thank you very much, a420er!

yeah, i also think the smoke won't be disappointing. i plan on drying till the weekend and then into the jars, respectively tupperware containers. then curing untouched till 4/20. :cough: :smoke:
smoke report will follow for sure.

if i consider that it took me 1,5 hours to cut these two little plants, i won't go with more than 2 plants at a time; definitely too much work for a lazy guy like me.

nothing new in the pipeline yet. have to wait for a few things in personal life, which decide on growing on. so, i think a few weeks will pass until i start a new project. but, i already know what's coming next: definitely dp's auto blueberry. i also saw a few videos of spannabis '13 on youtube, where DutchPassion (among others) told about some new autos coming. and, of course, i'm curious about the new beans that have been spread (Hazy and seymour-buds), what it is and when they are going to be released. (i'm watching you guys :check:)

well, i'm in no hurry... :coffee: when the time comes, i'll give you a holler.

i'm still following your grows . since your polarlights are more mature than mine have been on day 57, you don't have to worry about anything. the stinkyness will come for sure. :D

:peace:

Yes, 4/20 , was hoping mine would be ready by them. I suppose I will be smoking some store bought schwag. Wow, 1.5 hours to cut them huh? I saw you washed the scissors, I was thinking you should be licking them! Don't waste it bro! Yes, AutoBlue sounds nice, there is a guy in DP's forum that is just finishing up with his, you should check it out. They look lovely.
