hey AFNers, this is sativa_guy!

after long time reading i decided to register to this awesome community in the last month. and of course to start my first grow.
i am a total noob when its about growing the sacred plant, but here i am in good hands, i know.:D

so, thats the situation:

tent: 0,6m x 0,6m x 1,6m
light: one 85w cfl dual spectrum with reflector, 20/4 cycle
air conditioning: one small circulation fan, one ventilator (150m3/h) + carbon filter
temperature/humidity: 24°c/59rh lights on, 19°c/59rh lights off
beans: polar light #2
medium: the older one: standard potting soil/coarse vermiculite mix 50/50, the younger plant: sps/fine perlite mix 50/50 (i ran out of vermiculite and read that most of the guys here use perlite, so i bought a bag). by the way, the vermi mix drains better than the fine perlite mix.

plants are 3 weeks and 1 day old; actually the one thats supported by the plastic piece is 4 days older than the smaller one. i use 10l pots.
'the older one' soaked in water and directly planted in the earth, 'the younger one' germinated in a coir pot. buried the coir pot in the medium at day 6 after germination.

i am using to types of water. my tap water is hard and with a ph of 6,8, and purified water with a ph of 5,9  i actually thought it should have ph 7. my only feed for this grow will be tomato feed 6-5-9.

my goals for this grow: getting to know the plant!

my little fan is running 30 mins on/off, the big ventilator is running 10 minutes every hour to refresh the air and suck old air out.

yesterday i recognized some small light yellow spots on the older one. maybe you can see it on the pictures (sorry for the bad quality by the way, my camera sucks at close shots). what can this be? its the one directly planted in the sps. the soils data is as follows:
75mg/l n and p, 300 mg/l k (maybe thats to much?), 100mg/l mg and 30 mg/l sul.
i must admit i did feed alreday one time at 1/6 strenght. maybe i shouldnt have done that.

ok people thats it for know. i am a busy bee, so this will be updated when i have the time.

thanks for reading. all comments, critics and everything else is appreciated.

peace, love and aloha

:toke:

Hey sativa guy! Welcome! Good that you've come out of hiding. :smokebuds:

Can't see the spots, the pics are too blurry. Looking good, growth-wise though.

Why are you dong this???
Sounds like an ideal recipe for mold and all sorts of undesirable things with the warmth and humidity. Also, the small plants love the constant circulation to toughen 'em up.

Hey hey sativa Guy. :booya:great place for info.
check out the site rules and give them a read. Not many but they do need to be respected.
Much luck goes to youya boo

welcome sativa-guy! i was thinking the same thing as nood's, keep your fan on the same cycle as your lights:2cents: pics to blurry to see spots, but from the fert numbers you have given seems to be a little much!:D your light is adequate for now but when they get larger, i think you will have to add more light. for good growth. welcome aboard! from the use of the metric system i take it your in europe somewhere:smokebuds:passing one to you across the pond!

you mentioned fine pearlite, i use perlite but it is coarse perlite! :peace:

thanks everyone for the warm welcome! much appreciated.

yeah, you are absolutely right Noods. changed it; the fan is no running 24/7. and they seem to enjoy it.
after some reading it looks like it is mg deficiency. bought some mgso4 and plan on foliar spraying this evening when light are out. i will keep you updated on the progress.
as to the perlite: i think i have seen it in everyones earth; dont know where i read it exactly. next time i will buy the coarse perlite AND vermiculite also.

yes sir, i am over the big pond. :D thanks for the greetings. as to the light, i hope i will handle it with the 85w dual spec. we will see how it goes. but im planning on purchasing one of these fancy led light for the future.

hey herbal.experience, thanks for joining me here bro. :howdy: another great member on my side.

can someone help me a little with math? at what ratio do i have to mix my tap water (ph 6,8) with the purified water (ph 5,9) to get a ph 6,2, which is what you want, if i am not mistaken.
thanks in advance.

day 25

cheers guys, back with good and bad news.

the bad news first: i foliar feeded the older girl with mgso4 that evening. everything was looking good; at least i thought that. her weak stem, which was supported by the plastic, collapsed during the night. in the morning it laid on its side. after checking the stem near the ground i recognized that it was very squishy. hence the nutrient deficiency; the tissue was not able to transport nutes anymore, it was too late. i decided to discard it. r.i.p. my friend

i think it was due to not having the fan on all the time, supplying good ventilation. well, lesson learnt.

the good news is, the remaining girlie is doing well. she has a nice thick stem and is showing its sex already (these little hairs coming out where the stem meets the leave; sorry, much vocabulary to learn)

:booya:

gave her 1l water yesterday. with feeding i will wait till there is at least one more pair of leaves.

ok, thats it for now. sativa_guy out.
