Dreaded Budrot - advice please

hey guys n gals,

So I need some advice, I’m still a beginner and have just noticed some bud rot...

My plant is exodus kush/Dairy Queen - locally bred... she’s been flowering for about 18 days or so...

This morning I have noticed the first signs of bud rot... now in Africa shit like this seems to spread like wildfire - I removed the entire bud .

My question is, do I cut and control it? Or do I just pull the plant now?

I am an amature so I don’t even know how far off she is... but I can see she has got quite some time.

Any help would be hot, peace and thanks good people!

Cut any rot and hope for the best. If you can clear anything in the area to give more air movement...

As Yeats said cut off, what is RH saying and in case for rain you could build a shelter to protect her.

Cut it off, and examine the entire plant very closely. Drop the RH to 40 or less. Do it right away.

As soon you you are positive there is no more mold, get some fans blasting, check three times a day!

The big problem is that moldy bud can not be smoked. It causes lung problems, bad ones. If you see it on two or more branches, throw the whole whole plant away....


That being said, if you are determined to grow out the plant here are a few options.

1. Serenade antifungal spray. Use it with a small paintbrush, or q-tip and put apply to all stems, branches, nodes, and leaf stalks.
2. Drop the Relative humidity as low as possible.
3. Make sure the temperature does not drop under 70
4. If you cannot find any mold, turn up the fans.
5. Even if you do not see more mold, when you harvest make a 5 gallon bucket dip tank, and shake every bud in the water thoroughly.
5.5 Some people use a few tablespoons of baking soda, and a bit of lemon, followed by a plain water rinse.
6. Dry it extra fast by laying it out on a bed, or table with air flow on it. Bag it when the stems snap.
7. You will have to clean every surface in the grow room between plants, including electrical cables, hanging lines, everything.

To add on to what The reverend said, If you do see the grow through to the end, consider using the flowers for extracts or tinctures only.

Smoking mold is nearly indescribably bad for you, and really not worth the risk, IMO.

-- mate, you're outdoors, in Africa? I'm shocked have the bug population hasn't mowed her down already! So, is she moveable at all, even at night especially? Anything you can do do get her out of the high RH%, and keep air movement on her as much as possible,... I realize where you are, options are highly limited,... ditto for products- .... odd, for a local bred strain to show such lack of mold resistance,.. was it developed indoors maybe? Usually Sativa's show strong resistance to mold, particularly anything with tropical Sativa genetics,...
Best you can do is treat the mold like gangrene,... snip away and remove whole budlets infected, and look at the stems carefully,.. if this is botrytis, it travels up the stems into the buds, fucking them up from the inside out which makes most treatments pretty much useless,... when I fight this, I use fine tip scissors, alcohol to clean between every cut,.. forceps to grasp, tug, pick away bits,.. even take what looks OK but is likely infected internally already,.. it's pure grief, I know! .... I wish you could get Optic Foliar Transport and ATAK , that's what I use after clearing away the mess,.. the Cu nails the mold, Transport helps carry it deeper into the tissues, and the Cu will get metabolized soon as well like any other micronutrient,... anything else leaves residues .... You can use a fine tip hobby paint brush dipped into alcohol and dabbed onto the open tissues to momentarily sterlize the surface, and maybe seal it some from the dessication effect,... let the Sunlight hit it squarely as well if you can,.....it's a daily fight mate, scope, snip, scope snip.... again, if she can be moved indoors at night with air movement on her, it'll help a lot,...

I, unfortunately, do not have a means for accurately measuring the RH. Nor do I have the means to build her a shelter. She is actually planted amongst some bamboo near a fruit orchard! I cleared some bamboo to aid air flow, keeping her as stealthy as I could! Thank you for the input and suggestion, one day I will *hopefully* be able to build a shelter in the future! Legalisation is on its way in my backward country!

Unfortunately I am outdoors! But thank you for such an informative answer, especially with regards to the options you gave me! Definitely keeping those around for the future (will possibly be doing indoors someday!) and those that apply to outdoors!

I am particularly interested in the dipping in water, I recall watching a video where the man was dipping his in water with a slight concentration of hydrogen peroxide! however I am reluctant to do so and would enjoy more studies on the effects on the bud/thc etc! Especially health wise in terms of smoking...Anyways, I harvested most of the plant early, its been hanging in a windy area in an outbuilding thats never used. windows open for airflow. I harvested on Thursday last week, and will be able to go and do fine trimming tomorrow and bag her if shes ready. Am I still able to dip the branches in water? or is it late for that?

Im thinking about making either oil with alcohol, or has through the ice bucket method and hash screens! Any idea which would remove the most unwanted debris?
