Okay, so i have a kief screen and have been using it and pulling some really nice piles of kief. Who has some good techniques for turning it into hash?

Please share techniques or tips!

I just got a little "pollen press", Its great for small amounts. Took me about 15 minutes to make four hard chunks, about 3+ grams, but that also includes scraping the grinder for more while I was at it.

I imagine a producer would find this too slow and tedious, though it's something you could do in front of the TV, kinda like pairing socks.

Pros: As you work your way down the chunk of hash, you taste the different strains you've had over time so its never really the same; The gear cost about $7 Can; It was relatively quick and easy- stuff it, put the metal dowel in, screw, unscrew, stuff more etc, finally push it out. I think from now on I will just put kief in as I collect it and let it grow into a nice big chunk.

Cons: Only one, really. The shape is like it was cut from dowel. To my eyes it doesn't seem like real hash. To my head...well my head doesn't seem to care about that at all :smoking:

i got one of them kief presses,but i think the key word is kief not hash,some have a t bar handle for extra oomph.jammed in a table vice,whacked with a hammer still didnt form properly,still a light colour and any handling it crumbles.

now that roisin is so popular one of them pre press blocks would do the trick.
kief needs x tons of pressure and or heat to smash/melt the trich heads to form solid block hash.
i was brought up on solid hash.i do miss the old smells and flavours that i cant recreate.
some of my kief gets put through 5 dry sift screens,technically it then becomes hash as the plant matter has been seperated from the kief but is still in a dust/powder form.as is or a quick blip with hair tongs and you have a dab.i have decarbed kief to.
last time i made proper good solid hash i used parchment and hair tongs,tiny sprinkle a melt/press building up in layers,took an age though.i not sure if i could be bothered with the heel of the shoe method.

So far i really quite like the afghanistan video, though you can tell that its an art form how much water to add ect!! Anyone else have alternate techniques?

The heat could explain why back in the day I could eat black hash and get high, but the hard slabs had to be smoked or baked.

I better write this down so I don't forget about it. A drop of tincture or hash oil might be just enough to make the kief workable. Worthy of an experiment? Could be interesting, and if its a fail I can still cook with it, right?

I recall alot of classic hash recipes using hash oil and kief.
 
This little gadget is pretty good for me. It is not that crumbly.

Hey, wouldn't that be a great "working holiday", go work overseas and learn how its done? You could go region to region- Tibet, etc...That'd be fun!

I wrap my kief in baking paper, seal it with sellotape. Wrap that in newspaper, then dunk it in same water. Shove it in a warm oven, 100c, leave it for 5-10 mins, then take it out, use a rolling pin, and squish the fuck out of it, soak in more water and back in the oven, repeat 3 times. It makes a lovely slab of hash
