Hey all,:coffee:
So, I haven't grown yet I been more reading before I start and I've noticed lots of way of drying/curing. I seen some completely cut the whole plant at the bottom an hang the whole thing for 2-3 days before trimming fan leaves an then placing into a paper bag or mason jar.I would like to know what ya'll think of this process an which is best for drying/curing..?
:thanks:

Hello friend... any drying and hanging process will work. The key is to find the one that works for YOU.
The drying process should be a slow and steady one.. never rush the process it will result in degregation of the final product. It won't ruin it but don't take away from the potential of what you worked so hard to grow. How ever you choose to go bring the buds slowly down to app 62% 60 - 65% is the sweet spot for curing. A good mini hygrometer in a mason jar of buds will be an awesome tool to help and only cost 3 or 4 bucks... I started out chopping as you described bit found when paper bag method works best for me. . So I go from plant in soil to trimmed manicured buds in a paper sack.

Good luck my friend.

@A-Train is spot on, have to find what works best for you. I as well use the brown paper bag method, also with A trains guidance. There's is s whole thread on brown paper bag drying and different methods people do of it, but I'd keep it basic and follow trains guidance.

I have yet to try the Brown paper bag method..
I remove all stem and all bigger leaves and then i leave the buds to dry in a hanging net, in a dark room with RH around 55%. After 3-4 days the nugs are dry enough to be jar'd. Pop a mini hygrometer in there and if it shows 60-65 youre set. (As stated above) More than that they need to be dried further but its better to jar once to often and having to take it out instead of overdrying the bud to begin with.
Pretty much the paper bag method, except the paper bag!
Ive never been disappointed when drying like this, but always disappointed when hangdrying...

@A-Train how could the paper bag further improve my final product? I'm not arguing its excess, since ive seen and read tons about it online so i'm sure its totally legit but i'm just curious to in which ways the buds may improve? I'm def gonna try BPB's next harvest!

:baked:

I'm not claiming it may improve the buds more than any other method it just gives me a better more stealthy way of harvesting. I have heard many say it has less of the "hay smell" faster but I was tough to choose either way

Hi A-Train,
I want to make sure I understand you fully. Iam a blonde hence me getting clarification heheh. :muahaha:I cut my plant down, trim it (manicure it ) put it in mason jar with mini hygrometer until it reads between 60-65%? Do I cover it? Can I put jar in the tent? If I' am correct, what is the next step? Do I need to hang the plant upside down for 24-48 hrs before manicure. Okay I think I just confused myself with two different process. Officially "blonde" moment. I' am lost :poof::yeahthat:

Lol I got you

Step 1 : aquire tools for harvest
(Trimming shears, paper bags, jars, mini hygrometers, gloves, bowl, paper clips or stapler)

Step 2 : remove your plant from tent at desired harvest date.

Step 3 : turn on "trimming music" of your choice and sit in the floor in front of your beauful home grown cannabis plant and engorge yourself with her smells and beauty.

Step 4 : put on gloves and secure shears in dominant hand and secure the first bud for harvest in the other.

Step 5 : begin to disassemble your plant cola by cola bud by bud. Trim them down to "finished" manicured buds and place them in the bowl.

Step 6 : Now your plant is all trimmed up and in perfect buds in a bowl, locate your paper bags. (Got mine in a pack of 500 from sams.... get the BIG grocery store ones) place enough bud in the bottom of each paper bag to cover but NOT sit on top of each other. I then roll the top of the paper bag down 2 times in a 1 inch fold and secure with paper clips or a staple.

Step 7 : find a secure hopefully dark place to hang you bags of harvested cannabis for drying.... I tape mine to the wall of a closet.

Step 8 : Hang your bags of cannabis

Step 9 : find out the room rh with the mini hygrometer. Take the room rh and divide by ten..... then add 1 ... this is how long the buds should sit in the paper bags. (Approximate)

Exaple.... rh = 62% I round to 60 divide by 10 = 6

Then add 1 = 7

I tap the bags twice daily on the bottoms to "stir" the buds and keep them from touching in the same spot and mold or dry un evenly

Step 10 : place the buds loosely in the jars 3/4 full and add a digital mini hygrometer to a few of them and monitor the rh.

60 to 65 % is the goal

If they are still high in moisture take them put daily for 30 min or so then jar them back up til it reaches 62% then store for curing..

A-Train's 10 step guide to harvest and cure in paper bags.. if you can't follow that IT'S NOT THE HAIR COLOR LOL

Huge thanks, I got it now. I really appreciate this. If I put my bags back in my tent to help with odor since I have kids running around. Complete darkness, just maybe fans an carbon filter?

Yes turn your fan speed down and lights off... I do this most of the time but I'm in a hurry this time and had 4 different plants.. they tend not to be ready at the same time even if the strain is the same
