Here's how I determined the pH of the soil when I started...
I took some soil and filled the coffee filter in in my coffee maker. I pH'd the water using a blue pen before pouring the water into the filter. After it went through the filter I pH'd it again. It basically came out the same. 7 if I recall right.
When I mix my nutes in a gallon of purified water I make the pH 6.2 (or pretty close).
As far as water. I was watering some everyday and it seemed to be working fine. Then I was told I should water until 10% of the water comes out the bottom. So I did. Seems like that's when things started going South some.
Should I be using only 6500k bulbs at this point or the half 3000k I am using?
Could be one of your issues right there, you do not need to water everyday.:check: If they are still growing vertically, then they are still vegging a bit. When vertical growth stops, is when she becomes flowering full:thumbs:
to test run off....water till you capture 10% run off of pot size. then do as followes, if I had to guess I'd say you would have to water every three to 4 days, check this out pic up your pot, feel the weight tomarrow do the same the next the same untill it stop's getting lighter then water till 10% run off then repeat.
Rough Calculation Guide:
Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference
If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.
For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5
If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5
I have a digital scale that goes to 15 pounds. I'll start weighing the pots today. Regarding the weight. How accurate do I need to be? If the pot weighs within 1 ounce would that be considered the same weight? What is teh tolerance?
