Trip I have to tell you URGENTLY CHECK YOUR PH!!!!!!!! It doesnt matter what medium or nutes you use, pH is probablly the most imortant thing to making sure your plants get the correct nutrients. Here is a chart to kind of give you an idea on how plants nutrient uptake works-DISCLAIMER THIS IS FOR HYDRO NOT SOIL SO DO NOT USE THIS FOR SOIL IT IS ONLY FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES.
If you notice that differnt nutrients are available to the plant at different pH levels so if your pH is say at 6.2 you can put all of the Calcium you want into the medium but the plant will not be able to use the calcium because the pH is too high to abosorb the Ca.
PH is so vitally important I would like to speak with the person who gave you the advice not to check your pH! That makes me really mad when people give out information that can kill your plants.
I would rush as fast as possible to get a soil pH meter or at the very least a litmus paper test kit. If you let your pH get too far outta whack especially in Soil it can be very hard to get it corrected. This is defintely your problem and if you don't get your pH correted your problem will only get worse. I really hope this helps and I am sending great grow Karma your way.

Thanks so much for the advice. Will look on ebay now. Should I get a kit to test the soil or a kit to test the run off. I have seen a couple of threads about pH but got confused. Do I also need to check the pH of the water before and after I add nutes as well as check the run off? If it is out of range do I use pH up or down to correct it? Think am going round in circles because I dont really understand pH and stuff. Will get a test kit and hopefully lean as I go on. Any hints on a good kit. Will look under hydro shops on ebay
Spray with epsom under the leaves @ 1 teaspoon per quart. Faster uptake of magnesium. Feed with epsom @ 1 tablespoon per gallon.
Get a ph tester, they're cheap. If your ph is 6,5 going in and 6 @ runoff then take the runoff value and deduct the difference from it (in this case it's 0,5) = 6-0,5=5,5ph.

Milky you are spot on, but for the sake of not understanding pH lets try and keep it as simple as possible.
If you can afford a soil pH meter then I would reccomend you get a decent one as that is the easiest way to check the pH of your soil. I would also get a liquid pH pen tester and some pH up and pH down solution.
First you want to check your soil pH and see what it is, then you can add different supplements(like milky suggested espom salt) also domolite lime is a good supplement to add in order to help buffer your pH(it also brings it up or down I can't remember)
Also you want to add all of your nutrients to your water then check your pH and adjust accordingly. Then check your runoff water pH you can use the above forumla to get a pretty good indication of what your soil pH is but if you have a soil pH meter it is not nessacary. If you have any more specfic questions about ph I would pm Muddy as he is the GURU when it comes to all things ph related. He is very knowledgable about soil ph. I grow in Hydro so the ph's are different with each. Hope this helps and sending good ph and grow Karma your way

OK got a plan. Think it will need watering tomorrow so here's what I will do. Correct me if wrong.

Test my water which has been standing overnight with airstone in it. (3 litres)
Add 1 tea spoon of Epsom salts to the 3 litres.
Add my mutes to the 3 litres
TEST PH
Adjust pH of solution by adding up or down
Water plant
TEST early run off.

yep I have never heard of doing the epsom salt spray under the leaves, not to say that it is wrong or won't work I would test your pH first to see what adjustments need to be made. So if you are just getting a liquid testing method, pH your water to 6.5 and water til runoff capture the first shot glass full of runoff and test it. Use Milky's above forumla to determine what your soil ph is then make your pH adjustments accordingly. This should fix your leaf coloration problem pretty quickly(assuming your pH isnt crazy off like in the 8's or 5's) Good luck and PM me if you need any other help(that is the quickest way to get a response from me)
Just had a thought. As I mentioned earlier I allow my water to sit overnight with an air stone in the bucket to oxygenate. I then add my nutes to the water so the air stone mixes it all up. Think I'm going to turn off the air and when I mix the nutes I will stir them in.

Yeah that is a good plan, either way will work. The main reason you want to let the water sit out for 24 hours is to let all of the chlorine dissapate. Using an airstone to mix the nutes is an effective way of doing it and some people believe that by oxygenating the water prior to using it that it helps get the O2 to the roots which is the other most important thing in my opinon that cannabis plants love the most(oxygen to the roots) I think you are on the right path now my friend
Got a cheap test kit. Tested my water and was off the scale with a pH off about 9. Had a different plant that was ready for first flush so watered it and tested the run off. Looking back I should have lowered the pH before watering. Anyway the run off was about 8. Looks like all my probs are pH related.
This plant still does not need watering but am sure it will tomorrow. Sprayed the leaves and it does seem to have purked up a bit.not wilting as much but lower leaves are worse now.
Going to play about with my new pH down and a bucket of water to get an idea of how much to use.
