changing your water on a regular basis is considered to be important to preventing disease in your system Some people do run their buckets longer without changing, a few just top up. But it sounds like your growing for income, not hobby. If so, do you really want to risk your crop? DWC is a great system, but very unforgiving if you get root rot, etc. Why take chances? do the work, pay the price, and your effort will reward you greatly.
Ec will be your base ( the ec of your water ) plus your nutes. You might want to do some research here on the forum, about DWC and the strains your running. Some are more sensitive to high EC than others. Most people add nutes after the plants second set of true leaves appear. Run them at 1/4 strength for up to 2 weeks then go to 1/2, then gradually raise your EC to see how much your plants will take without problems.
Check out DWCocha's grow's and or pm him, He's the DWC man here! He will set you straight
