I was looking to purchasing a hps light, due to the fact of heat problems i'm thinking hps would be a better route. A 400w hps runs about 200$. What kind of led can i get for around that price that produces well? I don't need huge yields but want something decent where i can have some stash for awhile, while waiting on another harvest. something like close to 2 zips maybe more or less. Anyways i can go some over 200$ but with birthdays and christmas coming soon on a budget for awhile. any suggestions on a light?

Topled Mars Hydro also a Good one for small Bucks.

which wattage light would i aim for to get close to a 250/400 hps? I smoke at least a gram a day and need close to 2 zips a harvest that should hold me over until more harvest. I just don't know the wattage and harvest of leds by watts. With a 400w hps i know you should be able to yield 4zips easy off of 3 or 4 plants.

I'm in the same boat as you, I ended up going with the kind led, same thing as the Apollo cidly, it's working great so far. I had ordered the mars 2 900 watt, but they wanted 150 for shipping. I had already planted seeds so I had to get the light quick. My local hydro store ( which is still 100 miles away...alaska) only stock the kind led. So I had to pay basically double for the light but didn't want to kill my plants.

Area 51 is having a sale and have good lights from my research. It's hard to find journals from people growing with them.

Right now now im running the kind led over 8 small plants. It's a 300. Not auctual wattage it's the series number. For my grow I'm going to have to order one or two more of the same size to cover my area. It's 2.7 feet x 4.11ft x 6.7ft.

Theres also one one im looking at by suntec led 360 watts on amazon seems like it's they same as the cidly Apollo or kind lights. Worth looking into as it's half the price of the kind k3 series.
Honestly lights are tricky due to them being such an important aspect of growing, I hate to think of my plants doing poorly because I skimped on there lights.

Good do luck and let us know what you get and how it works!

I am running the mars-hydro original models. I picked up two 300 watt panels ( actual draw 180 watts) for $200.00 I have only had them a few weeks but they have been working great. I currently have two plants under each light and they are doing well.

I can't figure out how to use the site to order or see prices? I wouldn't know what spectrums to do for a custom light. Just prefer a good built led model with good results

You need to email them from the 'contact' section of their site. I've got 2 of their units: Apollo 4 and Apollo 6 (you can see the results in my grow diary in the link in my signature below) - I detail my spectrum on the first page of thw diary. Have a look in the LED reviews section to get a better idea of what's good and what's not. There are a couple of spectrum details in there as well, if you look at the 'Apollo' threads. Check 'em out man!

Peace
NB

The Mars Hydro their older model 300W are 100$ each free shipping on Fleabay. You could get two they a good quality for what I read. I have the MARSII 400 and it is a good light as well, but you'd get more light with two of the older model (white ones)

You need to email a company rep to get a quote, if you PM me I can provide you with the contact info for the woman I worked with. Also if you are interested I can give you some spectrum advice, Im no expert but did a fair bit of reading before I ordered my apollo10.
