First Update - 2 Weeks Since I Planted the Beans

Ok so i didn't update last week for 3 reasons. firstly i got GTA V, secondly they were only teeny tiny and thirdly and most importantly i thought i'd killed them...

i got back from working away for the week and they had sprouted and gotten to be about an inch tall so i turned the light on. checked the next day and 2 of them had white stems and were growing towards the soil. the tent was also hitting 40 degrees c (although i think the thermometer reads a little high.).

i borrowed an air conditioner from a mate (who also has the fifth plant in case you're wondering why i'm one short) and stuck that in the tent too, Tied up the gimpy white plants to some sticks i stuck in the soil, fed them 15 litres of quarter strength voodoo juice and sensi grow on sunday night (1 week after planting the seeds) and left them to it while i left for work again.

Got back friday morning and the air conditioner had packed up god knows what temps the tent has been hitting while i'm away but amazingly all 4 have survived and look bigger and healthier than before, i've even removed the sticks that hold up the bleached ones.

I've currently got the temps stable at 28 degrees lights on and 18 degrees lights off by having the door of the tent open and my wardrobe door ajar. this works for now but once they start smelling it's a no go. i've also knocked a hole into the chimney breast to vent into, meaning i have less than 2m of duct between my fan and the vent. i've read up on the fan i bought in a combo with my rhino 125mm x 300mm filter and it's nowhere near enough, the filter is rated 500m3 and the fan is only rated 250m3 and that's without the filter. the only decent 5" fans able to cope are way out of my price range but i can get a 6" fan that does 500m3 for 50 so i'm going to get one of those, glue a reducer to one end for the carbon filter and buy some 6" ducting for the vent. hopefully it won't be too loud and the reducer won't decrease performance too much.

I fed them 15 litres of quarter strength sensi grow and b-52 yesterday and took some photos if anyone is interested. any advice feel free to lay it on me...

ok so i'll be doing a full update later tonight. just thought i'd pop on to say that i had to remove the plants from the pots yesterday and remove the root control disc for the autopots. you know, the one that's meant to go in the tray and not in the pot where the roots are meant to be. i am such a dick sometimes.

Learning is half the fun ... Did you say what you're using for soil ?

Say Red-Eye, Just came across your post here and seen you was venting your exhaust threw your chimney. Not to sure that's a good ideal charging your chimney with pressure. If your using gas to run things like a water-heater and furnace, that pressure could block the co2 gasses from escaping up the chimney and filling-up in your living space. Im no heating an cooling guy but just doesn't sound like a safe thing to do IMO. Most smoke detectors these days have a co2 monitor built in them, just food for thought. Any ways good luck with your grow an my the harvest gods be with you.

Carbon Monoxide. Deadly shit.

hi guys, sorry i haven't had time for a full update. i've been busy with work. i'd just like to say those autopots are an absolute godsend. i think i stunted 3 of the plants a little getting the root control discs out of the pots. one a lot more than the others. all 3 are well on the way again now though (they're the right colour anyway...) the one i didn't stunt is getting towards a foot tall. i've put a new fan in the tent which pushes more air and it has the temps almost right.

for those guys concerned about the venting into the chimney, there is only an electric fire that i never use downstairs and that's all that's connected to this chimney. the gas boiler is at the total other end of the house. the chimney is well and truly disused. thank you for your concern though.

ok, so i've been super busy with work and i really haven't had time to update with me being away all the time. i've had problems with cal mag deficiency and as i mentioned earlier i stunted them by having to remove them from the pots and by having super high temps earlier in the grow.

anyhoo i have a bit of time spare and i thought i would upload a few pictures.

Week 7. i've just started them on bloom nutes. probably should have switched earlier but i thought i should get them back in good health before i started on bloom. i've just filled my reserve with full strength sensi bloom and big bud with a quarter strength dose of cal mag.

the little stunted one is a bushy little mother effer. the one next to it was the biggest but was the first to get hit by the cal mag and nutrient deficiency so the other 2 at the back overtook it. they're getting back to a nice shade of green now so i might not get much but it should be nice bud.

i'll try and update a few more times before the chop.

thanks for looking and feel free to offer any words of wisdom.

cool grow you got here, I've been running a 600 too, always fun to see other people succeed with the same thing you've got. I like the little runt, I've got a runt russian rocket fuel about the same size, I'm really rootin for the little ones.:pop::vibe::gthumb:
