Indoor First Grow 2x4 Tent 600 W HPS

Im significantly stoned right now and only skimmed. I will give it a more through reading when my head isnt in the stars I had something to contribute regarding the onset of pistils in your veg tent. It is possible to induce early sexing in plants while they maintain in the vegetative growth cycle. One cause for this occurring is very close proximity to intense blue light. Are the plants showing pistils hugged right up against T5s? Any closer than usual? Are the pistils emergisg from the uppermost nodes, and not at the bottom of the plant? If so, that is likely the culprit (Although this ist necessarily a bad thing). This is an effective method to determine a plants sex before flip. Ps: Run coco and never look back. Build a strong micro herd with actively aerated composite teas. You wont need more than 2 gallon pots. Feed as often as you can. I have rubber made totes that I put milkcrates in. I put the pots on the milk crates all the runoff collects in the totes. At the risk of sounding like an ass hole, my plants have been killing it. You will love the control of hydro, it suits your approach much more than soil. Thinking out loud some more, you could just drill a hole in one of those lowes buckets and run 5 gallon hempy trees. Just keep them trained so they don't overgrow the tent. 5 gallons is excessive but it will allow you to only have to water once every 1-2 days even when they're blowing up.

My lights are definitely a high amount of blue spectrum. Some have showed pistils with the light far away and some with it up close. I've even switched my lights to 24 vs 20/4. They are all still producing tons of new growth. Probably just going to take a bit more veg time though.

I've ran hydro before as an ebb n flow and as a DWC. Coco definitely intrigued me but I have the same problem there as high brix. I don't have the budget or the local supply to get the additional supplies I'd need for the teas and going hydro vs soil. Whereas with soil I have everything I need except the dirt lol. Plus I've got 11 in flower now and over 20 in veg it's already getting tough to water them all every 3-4 days unfortunately my budget restricts me from more convenient water in methods for the time being but I do have a plan for a table to put my 1gal/2L SOG plants. Going to build a 2x4 table with a tray for the pants and maybe just a bucket for drainage with a hose. Then ill use the other 2x4 space for larger 5 gal/3gal plants. I considered using coco just like soil but with more frequent waterings. Would it work that way?

Don't worry I'll be experimenting with hydro at some point but probably not anytime soon. Thanks for all the great info. Would love to see how well you killing it with your plants

Shit, as long as there's new growth then that's no biggy. I'll have to remember to blast them with the blue spectrum if I ever work with non fem seeds. Definitely a nice space saving trick.

And coco is basically pseudo hydro. A table will work fine as long as vertical space isn't an issue. It would easier to manage runoff I am sure. The growth is explosive, and rapid. You treat the coco like soil in early veg to let the roots stretch. After that the only similarity to soil is hand watering really. I didn't water my flowering plants (2 gallon pots) yesterday and within 36 hours if their last feeding (Until runoff) they were already wilting. Once this new set goes I to flower in the next week or two Ill send you a PM with some shots so I don't hijack your thread. I am absolutely loving LST sofar, though! This newest wave of girls are in 1 gallon pots (Actually I think it's smaller, tbh). 30 of them so I bit off a little re than I could chew, but I'll get it down one way or another. I actually have a canopy for once as opposed to a rocky mountainside haha. I probably should stop experimenting and theory crafting so much but I'm still trying to find my gardening style.

I think I'd love the coco if I was doing larger plants or if I had an automated watering system. I think it would be too big of a PITA to water them all every day. I'm already getting exhausted watering every 2-3 days and my grow is about to double. It's not a hobby no more. It's become a part time job. Best job I ever had though

Starting to wonder if maybe my t12 bulbs are the wrong spectrum? Gonna check it out tonight and see because it's really slowing growth on some and causes some funky looking leaves.

Looking forward to seeing some pics. I'm sure it's a lot different from the last time I saw it on here. I know what you mean about the Rocky Mountains for a canopy. I've learned to even it out by elevating the bottom of my pots but I'm sure looking forward to running a SOG on a table.

I experiment a lot too which isn't bad. My problem is I don't document the experiments closely enough so sometimes I'm unsure of my results. I'm similiar to you just looking for my style but not sure ill narrow that down in 50 years lol.

Finally remodeled the grow room! My veg tent is now outside of my flower tent with the exhaust going into the flower tent in order to still take advantage of my carbon filter. Now I just need Santa to get me another light! In the meantime I may move them in there under a t12 until more space open up underneath HPS.

I did have to take out my wardrobe dry box. Instead I hung a string in a somewhat dark corner with a fan blowing beneath.

I have terribly low humidity right now. Branches are dry in about 3 days and my meter just says LL%. It's so cold here right now my humidifier can't keep up lol

Looking good, hopefully the elves are working on a new light for you as we speak haha.

I also rearranged my setup yesterday and fired up my 2nd tent for the first time. Totally ran out of room, and had to play some plant Tetris to get things nice and uniform. This left me with the dilemma of not having a spare carbon filter for drying purposes.

Have you heard about water curing? I did a test with 10g last harvest, and I loved the results. It is unbelievable how much shit comes out of the buds after they are submerged underwater. After only the first 24 hours the PPM of my water was 800, and murky brown. I feel great knowing all of those carcinogens won't be in my lungs. I can see this possibly being beneficial for your father in law, maybe? Just a thought.

Unfortunately, if you are growing particularly flavorful or unique strains, the water cure takes away from that. Also the final dry weight is less than an air cure, but that isn't a concern of mine since I'm not a commercial grower obviously. The bowls leave a beautiful white ash immediately, and burns super smooth.

It is nice being able to chop down a plant, and keep the buds all in a 5 gallon bucket. So far I hav found it to be more convenient. It's also nice because you don't have to flush for 2 weeks, which is a significant portion of the plants flowering time. I fed on plant full strength until chop, and the water cure did all the flushing for me.


Also if you are battling humidity, you can foliar spray every day to try and keep them happy. I have been foliar spraying seaweed extract regularly for the same reason, along with a surfactant to increase absorption and the plants absolutely love it. Just b sure to raise the lights for a half hour so they don't burn.

Have you considered a dry box hooked up as an intake into your tent to still be able to use your carbon filter? My filter works so good it filters both my tents and the entire bedroom through the tent intake lol. That's why I went ahead and put them on dry line. When we want to smoke a fat joint the tent acts as our filter too.

I've never looked into the water cure. Might be something I'll have to try. I don't mind the flush tho. I'm finding that my plants rarely need nutrients anyways. I've been getting lazy researching and trying new techniques. I still haven't even been motivated enough to wash my buds after harvest. One thing the media gets right is stoners can be lazy lol. I'll keep that in kind it's def something id want to try at least once.

I should been more specific with my humidity. It's about 35% in my flower tent which I think is fine. My veg tent is at 50%. The bedroom and my house is about 20%.

That is a really good idea, I will have to see if I can make the space to set that up. My northern lights smell like candy so if I dont have to water cure them that would be nice, although I'm not sure if my pallet is refined enough to pick up on the flavors haha.

35% in flower is perfect, that's what I try to keep mine at. Last run it was 60% before I could afford a dehumidifier so even though I haven't experienced it, the fear of mold is permanently engrained in my psyche.

And as far as laziness goes, there's a bill hicks quote I love.

Blue OG Harvest!

Decided to harvest the Blue OG. The last couple branches we tested from her have been amazing. Sorry I didn't take any pics of her before harvest. Here's the branches of her drying now. Smells like grape/blueberry kool-aid!

Should be harvesting the Ultrasour in the next few days.
