Indoor First Grow 2x4 Tent 600 W HPS

Beautiful job bubbles. Glad to see everything getting dialed in!

How are you liking the photoperiod? I was considering playing with them for the ability to clone and reduce light schedule as well. I ended up building a small 3x2 cab from an old hide-a-keg from my college days. I will be able to start some auto beans in Rockwood cubes in there for a week or 2 before potting them in the big tent. Should save some space and time but I feel photos may be more effective. Sorry for thinking out loud lol, I also find myself scheming a bit once again. just curious as to where you stand on this in terms of the crop turnover in a perpetual setup for photos vs autos.

Great job again

Thanks Skatter! Nice to hear from ya :)

I have to admit I'm loving the photoperiod. Just the ability to clone makes it worth it alone. Not to mention the space you can save by transplanting. We are really close to running out before our next harvest and that would've never happened if I'd started with photos.

That's not to say I don't like autos. I've never seen such fast growth. They're incredibly easy to grow and the light schedule is versatile. Seems how I got a bunch of auto seeds from my hermies I'll be including them for years to come still. Prolly going to veg them at 18/6 for about month and then move them to the flower tent under 12/12. They'll be stunted cuz I'm going to have to transplant but now I'm mainly growing them for variety vs yield. I think autos would really shine outdoors in an organic soil. That's what I'm saving the bulk of my seeds for at least lol.

I think that answers your question on perpetual vs auto. Nothing beats a veg tent/flower tent perpetual with photo clones IMO.

Rant on I get lost myself and have to think out loud. Hard when you can't talk with anyone in person to brainstorm ideas. Just glad to know someone's still reading this. :D

Oh yeah? I have some nice freebie photos that I will have to run soon then.. I am trying these next autos in smaller pots to make not efficient use of my square footage but I'm certain running clones would be more efficient (sog). I just love.the speed and growth rate of these autos haha. Once I get a little closer to the 'ceiling' of autos Ill probably give photos a serious run. I love the idea of preserving genetics through bonsai plants and being able to avoid the variations between plants. I will be keeping an eye on your progress for sure. And I know what you mean lol, I'm always scheming and have nobody to entertain the madness! The plants are good listeners but they don't say much hah

Update:

Sorry I've been slacking guys. Growing is kind of on the back burner right now. Thinking my plants are liking it better this way anyways. Less is more right? :)

Not really using feed schedules or documenting as well as I used to. Just watering when they're dry and feeding every other watering. Still following the FF dosage recommendations on their site. Really can't wait to be done with these nutes and go high brix or hydro tho. Sick of huge ph fluctuations and nute issues.

Here's what I've got going on right now just to bring everyone up to speed.

null_zps89bab3cc.jpg

First up is my agent O. She's close to 10 weeks. Smells like oranges and diesel. I've been harvesting a few branches a day off of her for the last week. Now all that's left is the main cola which I'm planning to leave for another week. Tests so far have been excellent. She tastes exactly how she smells after a 3 day dry (humidity is only 30% and test buds were lower fluffy nugs). Would've like to leave her even longer but we are down to the last few buds of our last harvest. Best of all I can now say I have grown my first SEEDLESS plant! :) Here's a few pics of the branches harvested so far and what's left of her....

I also have 5 other plants flowering at different ages. My next closest to harvest is my lst'd blue OG. She smells super fruity and is just starting to fatten up. She really took the LST and is now sporting 10+ tops. Not exactly sure what week she's on lol. Guessing about a month left. Calling her my Xmas tree or bush might be better :D

After my blue og I have an Ultrasour just a few weeks behind. She's smelling well...sour for lack of a better word.

null_zps28ea4d67.jpg

Then I have my short agent O clone. She's kind of my test plant for small plant SOG. Not liking her at all compared to my multi cola LST but she's smelling nice and orangy just like her mom :)

About a week ago I put my Dinachem and blue Thai mothers into the flower tent. They're just showing preflowers now.

null_zps1afd53ad.jpg

In my veg tent I have a lot going on. I have 4 mother plants. 2 wild Thai that haven't been sexed yet. 1 lemon Thai Kush and 1 agent O. I have clones of all my strains in solo cups and a few recent clones in my cloner. I also have one Auto blue cheese seedling and one auto Berry Ryder seedling. They are coming along a lot slower then their parents but still
looking healthy. I should note the difference in size between my 2 wild Thais. They were regular seeds and one is easily 3 times the size of the other. Guessing the big one is the male and the small one is the female. I will be sexing clones soon to confirm.

That's where I'm at right now. I'm a little unsure of how ill proceed at this point. I don't think I'll be able to expand to the 2nd 4x4 section in time for these upcoming clones. Also I don't believe I have enough room in my 2x4 veg tent to veg them as large as I'd like. I have a few ideas...

First, I thought of recycling mothers. Meaning I would veg them in 3 gal buckets, take a few clones, wait til they root, and then flower the larger plant and keep one of the clones as a new mother. Going this route ill have to throw away quite a few clones and will be limited up to 8 larger plants maximum in my 4x4 space. I think this approach will work best once I have the entire 4x8 to work with vs the 4x4 tho. Then I could grow 4 monsters in each 4x4 area.

My second idea is to transplant up from solo cups to a variety of 2 liter bottles and 3 gal pots. Id be able to keep 6 mothers in 3 gal maybe up to 5 gal pots. The downside is I'm currently running 7 strains so I'll have to lose one. It would probably be the wild Thai as that's my only 10 week plus strain. The rest are all 8 weeks. Some plants would end up larger then others depending on veg tent space. Essentially it would be a 20+ plant SOG with some medium size and some small size plants. I would of course elevate the pots to create an even canopy. I realize this route will be a lot more work and less rewarding but it gives me variety, frequent harvests, and no wasting clones.

Right now I'm kind of running a combination of the two. For example with my blue Thai and Dinachem I took several clones from each, rooted them, and then moved the larger lst'd mother plants into flower. Now in just a few more weeks the clones will have to be moved to the flower tent due to lack of space in the veg tent. Starting to think a small 2x4 veg tent is only optimal for a SOG vs large plant setup.

Hold onto your seats guys! Another vision is starting to form or that could be the agent O brownies kicking in lmao. My newest idea is to purchase a 4x4 tent. I would use the 2x4 as a mother/clone/seedling tent using t12's. I would use the 4x4 with a 250watt MH to veg my clones nice and big. Then I'd move them to the 4x8 where I'll then have 2 600watt HPS to flower them. I could interconnect all the tents to the same exhaust and carbon filter system.

This is probably a 6 month plan. For right now I'm focused on getting my 2nd 600watt hps so I can use my entire 4x8 tent for flowering. It'll have to be a huge SOG at first but ill work my way up to larger plants as I get the supplies.

Well that's all for now. Sorry for the HUGE rant. Most of this is just me thinking out loud so I can plan things out and make decisions. I appreciate everyone who's following. Right now I'm just getting a feel for each of my strains. Soon I'll be running a big SOG and I'll be keeping a much more detailed journal.

Thanks for stopping by bro! Yes small plant vs big plant is always the dilemma. Unfortunately for now im restricted to mainly small plant SOG but in the near future I'll be upgrading to 7gal high brix :)

Greatstuff man, looks like you are really dialing in and killing it. Once I get a new online fan for my 2nd tent well be running the same space. I love what you're doing with the place. I chose to go the route of more plants , and only 2 strains this run. I like the way you are running your perpetual though, with variety in mind. I had a few delays in getting this run going so if abandoned the perpetual unfortunately.

Have you experimented with any new products or techniques this time around? Or just try to refine your previous run? I've been researching foliar feeding and think I will do it more regularly. Also have you read much about the benefits of seaweed? I just bought a jug, going to test it on the new babies haha.

If you are looking to switch still I would seriously reccomend coco. Especially if you want just a few beasts. I can't speak highly enough about it. Im incorporating alot of organics microbe, fungi, and its great. Once these GH nutes are done in going fully organic. That coco is seriously unreal man. And it's soo easy if you can water every day (Or even more for better growth). You can use it outside too... Im sold on this shit for life lol. I respect the he'll out of the soil jedis out there, but so wouldn't trade the control of hydro for anything.

Update:

I recently finished harvesting my agent O. I ended up staggering it out over a week. I estimate total flower time was about 9 weeks.

I dried it for about 3 days before putting it into jars. My humidity is only about 30% right now. Most of the buds are quite a bit fluffier or airier then I would like but other than that I've got no complaints.

I ended up with a dry weight of 44 grams so far and that doesn't include the few branches we smoked early or the gigantic main cola. Safe to say I easily passed my estimate of an ounce and a half. I'm predicting 2 and a half ounces once I include the dry weight of my main cola. This is my largest harvest to date so I'm pretty stoked.

The agent O smells very unique. It's almost like an orange diesel. It's very smooth. We have to be careful where we carry it though because you can smell it from a long ways away lol. Not sure if this strain is a lot better than my autos, if I grew it better, or if it's because this plant is seedless but it's a huge improvement.

I am starting to think I my not be a big fan of the diesel strains. I always liked them before when I bought bags but now that I'm smoking a lot more of it consistently I'm not liking it as much. I'm more into fruity strains like bubblegum funk, blue berry, tooty fruity, etc... I have yet to grow and of these her though. I've got quite a few strains crossed with blue berry but the skunky/diesel cross takes away from the fruitiness. Who knows it could just be grower error lol.

I did make some infused olive oil with the trim. So far we've made brownies and sugar cookies. Both turned out pretty good but I do prefer butter over oil. Next time ill do a batch of butter and canola oil. I just need more trim.

Here's some pics of the harvest:

Not much to update with the rest of the girls. Clones are all doing great. Haven't lost one yet. I did rearrange things in the flower tent now that im dealing with shorter plants but that's about it for now.

Thanks for following and keep it growing guys! :D

Haven't really been doing much this run. Kinda just letting the plants do their own thing. I water when the pots are light and feed every 2nd or 3rd watering lol.

I've considered coco as well but for me the big advantage with full hydro over other mediums is cleanliness. I've ran an ebb n flow and also bubble buckets before. Both were super easy to maintain. Just fill 'em up when they fall beneath water line and flush every couple weeks. I think with coco you get the advantage of hydro growth but I think you're still dealing with the mess.

I also lean towards soil because I'm a naturalist and organics person at heart. Plus soil is so simple and yet you can make it as complex as you want.

I definitely agree going fully organic. I've just gotta use up these FF nutes first. Can't exactly throw away $150 in nutes lmao.

Update:

Here's a more detailed update with pics of each flowering plant.

null_zps92d3ebef.jpg

First up is my blue OG. Still can't pin down the exact smell. It's almost like blueberry crossed with grape but hard to tell exactly. Smells amazing regardless. She about 5 weeks into flower so far. I'm actually surprised at how fat the nugs on her are already.

I've been having some problems with older leaves yellowing on her. Not quite sure what it is. I'm guessing either a cal/mag def or nitrogen def. I've been feeding all of these plants pretty lightly. I don't believe it's a ph issue because it's a problem on some plants but not others. Guessing some are just heavier feeders than others. She still looks super healthy so I'm not too worried. Might add some molasses and epsom salt with her next feeding.

null_zps66664c59.jpg

null_zpsbd34be43.jpg

null_zps4e0caee2.jpg

Next up is my Ultrasour. She's been flowering just as long as the blue OG. She smells like a slightly spicy fruit. One thing I've noticed different with this strain is the buds seem shorter and fatter. Having similiar leaf issues but overall she's pretty healthy.

null_zpseb053186.jpg

null_zpsb9bedccd.jpg

null_zpsa4cba942.jpg

Next is my Blue Thai. This is one of the healthiest plants I've grown. Very bushy and lots of dark green leaves. No nute issues with her. Not smelling like much yet but I know that'll change soon. She's about 3 weeks into flower.

null_zps45ef9c4f.jpg

null_zpsd564a806.jpg

null_zpsa1bf95fc.jpg

Then I have my Dinachem aka chemdawg. Really excited to try this strain. All the reviews sound awesome. She stretched a ton after a few weeks in flower. She's also about 3 weeks in without much of a smell yet.

null_zpse3e15c65.jpg

null_zps05b49080.jpg

My final plant in the flower tent is a small agent O clone. She was a test plant to compare a small single cola SOG plant vs a medium size LST plant. Not really impressed with the results and she's convinced me to change from small plant SOG to medium/large LST.

null_zpsf489ef38.jpg

null_zps87f4d584.jpg

In my veg tent the Dixie cup clones are really starting to take off. I think what made a big difference is I changed the light cycle from 18/6 to 20/4.

null_zpsc0a4891b.jpg

null_zps9cdb84f9.jpg

null_zps642eec68.jpg

Mainly I did this because a few of my large blue og clones are still shooting pistils and the leaves are getting covered in the crystals. My hope is that by decreasing the dark cycle I can get them to re veg faster.

null_zps381f68e5.jpg

null_zps1098d2f0.jpg

I think the bigger difference by leaving the lights on longer is temperature. Previously my temps were at 77 day and 68 night. Now my day temps are up to 84 and night temp is down to 75. This temp difference is making a huge difference I think. Now when I open the tent it feels like a rainforest and my growth rate seems a lot faster. This could also just be a result of my aero clones acclimating to soil.

My plan is to keep my clones all in Dixie cups for as long as possible. I'm hoping they can stay stunted in the Dixie cups until I'm ready to put them in larger containers to veg/flower them as needed. This way I can keep a supply of clones on hand for all strains. Then I just transplant, veg them for another month, and then move them to flower.

Here's my larger veg plants. I'll start cycling these into flower soon as their clones get larger. Really no rush. Probably will start with the agent o in a few weeks. I've been topping/pruning all of these like crazy.

Also my main cola from the last agent O is done drying and came in at a half ounce exactly. That puts my total just under 3oz. I'm pretty excited by these numbers. Hopefully my LST girls will produce even more.

That's all for now. I should be ordering my high brix kit from doc soon so expect big things in a month here :)
