New Grower First grow! A journey of learning and hope

They are definitely ready for food. I like to start them early, but generally once they have their first set of leaves (other than cotelydons) they are ready for food. I start them out with a lighter dose than the 1/4 strength at first, but I use GH not maxi.

Also 6.3 is a bit high. Most of the toke your PH will drift upwards as the nutrients continue to chelate before fully stabilizing (although in some unique circumstances it will drift down). How does the PH of your solution change, and over what time period?

In a typical setting, at.this stage of.growth, I would reccomend giving them 5.5-5.6 PH, allowing the solution to gradually increase up to 6.0-6.1 before lowering it back down to 5.5. This will allow for ideal uptake of nitrogen, which is pivotal in veg. A PH of 6.0-6.3 is more ideal in flower.

Doing this will allow the PH to gradually drift, within the parameters of each phase of growth

That's the info I was looking for, thank you! :Sharing One:

Temp: 72.3

RH 45

Change the res water. Used dechlorinated tap water. PPMs before nutes 127. Added General Hydroponics Maxi grow on 1/28 at ¼ strength. ( ¼ teaspoon per gallon ). PPMs with nutes 305. PH is 6.0

Plants have grown to about 2 1/2” tall and looking good! I think today I'll start some Northern Lights seeds. They are regulars I'll start the 6 I have. I haven't carried out my plan for my grow room yet as it being an open space at the moment is not a problem. I decided to wait until I have the materials to build the walls correctly rather than use materials that would have to be taken down anyway. Hopefully, next week, ( if I'm over this damn flu, its kicking my butt right now ) I'll get the foil faced foam insulation to complete the walls with. I want to get the veg area walled off so that I can put the WW autos under the 600 watt MH ( I plan to start with it at 1/2 power ), and use fluorescent lighting for the veg area. I have one 105 watt CFL and I'm going to add another. Future plans call for building my own 6 tube T5 HO light as I can build one for about 1/3 of the cost of a commercial unit. I'd like to do flood and drain for the veg area, but for this first grow, it will have to stay DWC for economics. the F&D will be a summer project. as a side note, I'm building a DWC unit to put in my living room to grow strawberries! ( We are pretty much house bound in the winter some I have too much time on my hands lol ) I'll take pics when I have it up and running.

Oh man,Im super excited for you buddy.I dont know crap about DWC,but I know a sexy plant when I see one.LOL! Wishing you beautiful karma and good vibes always!!Heres to the future.:Sharing One: :Medibles: :woohoo:

Thank you! I'm excited, seems I'm off to a good start. I picked DWC after watching some great videos about it on youtube. Its really a fairly simple system. My perspective was it seemed to have less potential problems than other mediums. And most forms of hydroponics offer greater pontenial yeild. Time will tell if I'm right :Sharing One: :karma Cloud:

Update:

Temp 78.8
RH 41%

Well, I last night felt I couldn't wait until i got some 5" net pots as the tap root was already 8" long! My two girls got transfered into one 10" net pot that's installed into a twenty gallon tote. I ph'd the water to 5.8, added GH Maxi Grow to a ppm of 292. As of now, a little after 9am, they look fine so far. I decided that I was going to take my chances so I transfered them by removing the from the little 2" netcups they had very little for root hairs, at least none that extended thru the side of the cup yet so the transfer was not too rough on them. I placed a small layer of hydorton in the bottom of the 10" net pot. I held the plant in one hand and very carefully place hydrton in the pot one handful at a time. This allowed me to bury the roots gently. But that's not to say I wasn't very nervous the whole time! Its funny though, I've watched the Sea of Green video by Hans several times, and I cringed every time I saw him transfer plants out of a smaller net pot to a larger one. Yet his seemed to not mind LOL! I've also now have them under my 600 watt MH light, which is running at 1/2 power. I have it set at 30" above my plants. I'll wait a week and bring it up to 75% then see how they do for few days. I think their still pretty young to be under full powered MH light. Already I can see heat is going to be an issue. Looks like I have to find the money for the ventilation equipment soon. Sorry no pics my camera battery is kaput will try to get pics and post later.

Finally got some pics!
