New Grower First Grow: Dinafem White Widow Auto

Hello AFN! I have been checking out this forum for quite some time while I've prepared for my first grow. I've done a lot of reading and research before deciding to dive in. Being my first time any advice, comments, or criticism are welcome. For my first grow I have decided to go with Dinafem's White Widow Auto. My goal for this grow is to just learn a lot and hopefully get some dank bud in the process. While I would like to get 3-4 oz from this grow I know that is unrealistic being my first grow, so my goal is an oz a plant.

Set-Up:

- Secret Jardin Darkstreet DS60 II (2ftx2ftx5ft)
- 2 3 gallon equivalent Air Pots
- Fox Farm Ocean Forest and Nutes (added about 25% perlite)
- 250w MH for veg and 250w HPS for flower
- 200 cfm exhaust w/ 4"x12" Phresh Carbon filter
- 2 small fans for air circulation
- 2 Dinafem White Widow Autos

The seeds were germinated on 7/22 and the first one popped on 7/23, followed by the second one on 7/24. Both went directly into their final resting place in the Airpots.

Temps have been OK. Ranging from 80-86 degrees. During my test runs with my tent I did run into small heat problems but that was due to 90 degree days. I'm in the process of acquiring an AC unit for the room the tent is in to help combat the heat on hot days.

I hear the OF is hot, so I'd search the forums and read about it if I were you

Thanks for stopping and checking out my first grow wait, i also heard and read that OF can be a little hot. I also read adding some extra perlite can help with that. I read a lot of good things on OF so hopefully it will be ok.

Do you have any recommendations for soil, for future grows?

Update Day 1

Yesterday my first white widow sprouted up!!! and this morning when i woke up the other one was just breaking through as well.

Excited and anxious to watch them grow!!

WW#2 Seed stuck

Hey everyone little update. The first WW is up and doing fine the picture below is of the second one. It has yet to get rid of its shell. I haven't touched it and it looks as if its getting closer to falling off. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. I've read alot with alot of mixed reviews, some say leave it some say try to get it off. Any thoughts are appreciated. Also watered this morning with pH balanced water. Thanks

Give it a little bit. Sometimes I have to help them with their helmets. If you do be super super careful. A little spritz of water on the shell can help.

I'm sorry I didn't see the question. What I am going to do from now on with autos, is use OF or any nuted soil on the bottom, and use something neutral on top. That way by the time the roots get to the nuted soil, it will be old enough to need the nutes

As far as the shell, I pop them off with a toothpiick. Those leaves are going to wither in a few weeks, so even if you do a little damage, it's nothing really. Just be gentle
