New Grower First grow, First post - Royal Queen Northern Light auto & SAGARMATHA SEEDS AK48 Automatic

Had a good read bro,, things are looking great one mistake all of us make and its out of excitement is watch the plants too much from a young age expecting huge change overnight... Early stages are slow but once a few leaves come out growth becomes rapid!! YOUR Plant will straighten itself out naturally. My 2nd northern lights sprouted about 2 inches last night! Jump over to my thread if u have a moment my first NL is a week or so away from harvest and iv been growing with CFL's too.. Feel free to drop me a message im no expert but more then happy to help in anyway i can!!

Peace bro :stylez rasta smoke:

True that man. I check them when I get up and when I go to bed... and most days about 10 times in between too haha

I should be a bit less impatient, but I still want to journal daily so I have something to check back to on my next grow. and i know how helpful/interesting daily journals have been when ive been researching!

Girl #1 looking a very vibrant green. First set of leaves is growing out nicely. Hope that little second set get a move on and suck up some more light!

Girl #2, similar size first set of leaves but still toppled over. Hopefully she steadies herself soon!

Nice looking set up man.

Just finished some RQS Northern Lights auto check out my grow in the sig.

Same as you, first grow, soil, HPS .

Good luck dude.

Crikey man! Your grow looks great. Wish I had room, money or ventilation for a 400w hps so I could get those results haha.

Well I diagnosed the problem with seedling #2 being bent over lol

growtentillustration.png

basically I have had the 130w CFL running out of the HPS's mount (without the ballast) hanging "evenly" over my two pots.

The pots are pretty large and i've had the mount within a couple of inches. But the mount isn't all taken up by the bulb and so the bulb hasnt actually been directly over the second seedling or giving it light directly

Live and learn hey. I'm going to buy an adapter and mount my second grow CFL over the second seedling so they have one each.

Sounds like its all go now bud!! Good luck

Haha, love the username man. Also like the little illustration there. Plants look pretty good so far.

Stretching is common with CFLs, how are the bulbs oriented? Have you checked out the CFL orientation thread yet? https://www.autoflower.org/f103/cfl-orientation-distance-charts-16904.html

Hey dude, thanks very much for checking in :)

Actually I just had 1 130w CFL in horizontal orientation kind of like one of these:

I kept it within a few inches as ive read about stretching and dont want it to happen!

- Today I bought a fan with oscillation to circulate a bit more cool air around the plants.
- I reinstalled my 250W HPS rather than CFL with this new fan in and temps seem ok. It's a tower fan and tall enough to blow some cool air into the lamp too!
- I also bought a timer as I had been running them at 24-0 and I read that dark periods promote root growth - which I figure is very important for my young plants. Ill have a dark period during the midday hours here of 6 hours

I do have one Q about heat - Where should I place the thermometer/hydrometer sensor to accurately test my temps? I have it under a piece of cardboard at plant level on the wall (to shield it from being hit by the lamp directly), and ambient temp is about 28 degrees. but im sure if i had it placed on the soil it would be in the 30's, despite the back of hand test being comfortable.

Thanks for bearing with my novels everyone :) This is so much fun!
