Day 9 (Germination) 6 (Sprout). No water

Hmm well no matter which way I measure the heat (ambient or otherwise) the HPS just makes my grow tent way too hot, even with an oscilating fan and a 6" fan on extraction duties. So back to 2x125W CFL's, 1 over either plant



The second seedling looks like it isn't even developing one of its third leaf set..!!! I wouldnt be so offended at its poor progress if it wasnt so short and still a bit toppled!



The first is still growing its second true set out, ever so slowly. Hope they take off soon :/

Thinking about germinating one of the RQ NL auto seeds I have and replacing seedling #2..

Yeah, my HPS actually has a flange on either side and even running the extractor fan (6 inches!) directly off it using ducting it the room gets too hot. $hitty fan I think!!

I might try some other configurations tomorrow (like attaching the fan directly to the HPS or directly after it) but I don't want to keep switching the lights on and off on my babys hehe

My setup can't currently support 2 plants - I get heat issues with 2 big cfls in the tent, and 1 can't sufficiently cover 2 plants. So I culled the deformed one and will consider my options as far as ventilation.



Second set of leaves still growing out. Seem to be going a bit faster

Actually im just growing with 2 (now 1) Biodiesal mass currently. Which is good. Cheaper noob mistakes ;>

Here's my set up

- The pot(s) are square, 30cm x 30cm & about 25cm deep

Problem (#1) - 1 CFL cant cover 2 plants
The 130w CFL bulbs are only 20cm long. So even with the pots together, just one of them cant be directly over 2 seedlings at close range
- If I run with two 130w CFLs and leave my extraction fan close to the ceiling (to minimise ducting, as its where the only ducting outlets are) ambient temps at plant level get over 30 degrees. Even with that tower fan you can see circulating cool air

Problem (#2) - if HPS, too hot
If I run with the 250w HPS closer to the ceiling(in the mount pictured), even with cooling configuration like:
Open flange | HPS | small ducting | 6" extraction fan pulling | ducting | exit
ambient temps also get above 30 degrees at canopy level, even with the tower fan circulating air

I just dont know what the optimum set up would be.

So right now I have only 1 plant, under 1 130w CFL, with the extraction fan running on fan control at roof level to stop it being too loud. temps are about 28c

- Everrr so slowly the second set of leaves grow. Not exactly accelerating though..

Hi all

Well, I stopped with the daily updates and tried to exercise a bit of patience

Today is day 16 since germination and day 13 since she sprouted



She has 2 sets of leaves the same size and another 3 sets coming along at the same time!

I've got her under the 250w HPS @ 11 inches distance and have got the ambient temp to a max of about 28.5, still 18/6

But she's only 1.5 inches tall! I would have thought as I was using a CFL before if anything she would be stretching..

Normal height at this age?
