New Grower First Grow Journal- Northern Light Auto

Nice upgrades to your setup sounds all fine to me! about the humidifier is not a must, but if u can afford one that can fit in your grow room, why not? The new set of leaves looks good and without the curling, she will take off in no time.:twist: keep giving them love

Thanks Green n Peace! :)
i keep reading that for veg the humidity should be above 40, more towards 50, but I can't seem to get it up that high! Also just checked it out and the humidity is already back down to 26% and the temps are at 86:/ don't know why it's been fluctuating so much...

I also just checked back in the box and the humidity went down to 25% and the temperature up to 85. I'm getting pretty frustrated that I can't seem to keep the temperature down and humidity up. I'm going to check out some humidifiers tonight, if I find some should I get warm air humidifier or cool air humidifier?

Day 12 updates

Day 12 today(: I think she's starting to show some progress! The temp has still been high, around 82, trying to find a way to bring it down. (After this grow I'm going to try white paint instead of tin foil). The humidity has been around 29%, even though I've been doing the shallow dish of water method. I looked at Walmart for humidifiers last night, and they were all too big, so now I'm going to probably order one online within the next few days. You can see in the pictures that parts of her stem are red, is this normal since she's still young? Here's some pictures!

Hey there girl! You worry to much! You should be okay! I dont know if its only me, but that plant looks like she could take some nutes soon. You realy got a nice plant! I think mine werent that big either at day 12! She's probably rooting up now and will explode in the next few days like mine did(im at day 19).
I know its veeery hard to sit by the first 2 weeks! But it shhould get interesting now.

Hope you can get your humidity and temps down! Good karma sent to your grow! Keep doing what you're doing.

Peace

my girl at day 12 wasn't that big, looks good :P when u planning start nutes?

Hehe I'm glad she looks good! (:
I'm not sure when to start nutes, I've heard not until the 5th set of leaves... Is that true?

Thanks so much!(: do you have a grow journal? I'd love to see how yours goes since they're pretty close age wise! What are your temps and humidity at?

Maybe I'll start nutes on the next water?

You're welcome! Yesh I do, check my signature. Ummm I dont have a humidity meter, but my temps are around 25-30 deg C(sorry im not used to F) at light time(dunno what they are at dark. Im on 20/4.

Just a question, are the leafs light greenish colour? If they are it could mean you could start some nutes. If you start your nutes, go with realy realy realy low dose for the first time and see how they respond.
But i'd say wait for like day 14 for that just to make sure they are big enought to take them.

Peace

Hey, GrowGal! :tiphat:
By the looks of those gals, you may be getting some nute lockout. Are the pics accurate? I see the veins showing green, with yellowing to the margins?
FF should have plenty of good stuff to carry you through at least the 3rd leaf stage.
1)Do you know what your pH is going both in and out?
[h=2]PH Calculation Guide by GoAuto6[/h] Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5

2) Did you amend your soil (add anything to it, like perlite)?
Slow draining soils, or overly wet soils, can have a huge influence on what your roots can take up.

3) Is that foil on your walls?
Foil bad. Aside from fire and electrical shock issues, it can create hot spots that could burn your gals. The wrinkles in foil, depending on how the light hits them, can act like little magnifying glasses. Some folks use mylar or similar products, I like my plain old flat white paint. Not gloss or semi, just flat white. :peace:

Wow some very helpful posts here! Thank you!

Would it really be nutrient lockout this early? I haven't started nutrients yet at all. The water that I watered with the first two times was around 6.0 pH and the second time I watered with 6.4 pH water. The runoff was about 6.4 each time. I did realize that foil was a bad choice for walls, but I'll have to let it be until the end of this grow, until I can take the box apart and make it flat white instead, which I heard is also good. The plant isn't as yellow as it looks in pictures, but it's not like dark green either.

I got the temps down to 77 and the humidity is at 32% right now.

Im im really concerned about this not though, I thought my pH was fine if it was around 6.4? What should I do?

If you're 6.4 in and out, your pH should be fine, GrowGal.
32% RH is a bit low, but in the ball park. Have you tried putting a damp towel in you space? More surface area than a dish of water, so that should boost you up a bit!
The plant isn't as yellow as it looks in pictures, but it's not like dark green either.
*Whew!* Dark green, by the way, isn't always a good thing, any more than yellowish is.
Check out the first few links in my signature, GG. To me the 3 "must reads" a new grower should have bookmarked!
:peace:, and Happy Growing!
