New Grower First Grow Journal- Northern Light Auto

(Two Weeks): first feed

Hey! Today I fed my northern lights auto for the first time! The leaves really aren't as yellow as they seemed in the pictures before. But anyway, I just fed 1/2 tsp Fox Farm Big Bloom and 1/2 tsp Fox Farm Grow Big. The pH was 6.5. I forgot to check runoff pH but I will in a few minutes because I emptied it into a jar. I'll check that in a bit, but last time I did it was 6.4ish.

The stem looks like it's skin split or something, because it's like wider at one spot and a different color and texture, but the plant is still growing really nicely. I hope I didn't feed too early if hate to see nute burn in a few days..

I just checked my runoff pH and it was at 5. What should I do?

GG, did you test pH before or after mixing the nutes?

Looks like you're in the ballpark for soil pH so I'd shoot for 6.3-6.5 in your nute mix. You will likely need some ph UP because the FF nutes tend to lower pH quite a bit.

I checked my pH after I added nutes. The pH with all of the nutes mixed in was 6.5. But then when I tested my runoff pH, it was 5):

Will my plant absorb the nutrients if the soil is that acidic? What should I do?

Personally, I wouldn't get too excited, GG. Drops are a bit tought to get an accurate read from (my first grow, all I had were drops).
Keep an eye on your gals, esp with this being their first feed, and see how they respond.
Next time you water, re-check your run off. I've been off a point and a half before using drops... I'm not sure if I was tired, bad light, (it couldn't be 'cause I'm an old fart with bad eyes!) but it happens. :dunno:
You should see a positive change in your gals tomorrow. :peace: :karma Cloud:
BTW, :slap:!! Max reps for caring so much, and asking solid questions to help your babies out!

Thanks so much Red! It's my first grow and I really want it to do great!(:
you're truly very helpful! Thank you for that(:

I'll be posting more pics and updates when I get home this afternoon!

So to make things clear, runoff is not the pH that matters as much? Will my baby absorb the nutrients if the runoff is 5? Or next time I water, should I make the pH of the nutes and water higher so the soil pH is higher? Maybe water at like 7.5 so the soil pH is 6ish? Or is that bad? Also I've heard to alternate waterings with nutes, like water once with nutes and the next time with just water, and then nutes again and rotate, is this correct?

looking good so far, I wouldn't worry about the stem it's not splitting it's just growing out and getting thicker and stronger same things happened with every plant I've grown when your embryo leafs (round leafs at base) turn yellow I usually pull them off with the skin from around the stem that your seeing. Hope this helped good luck with your grow
