Hello,

As of 7/1/15 Oregonians are allowed to grow recreational cannabis, and I'm doing just that! Auto Strains: Jack Herrer, Blue Dream, Pineapple Punch, Lemon Haze, Grizzly Purple and Berry Ryder.

I've had three prior grows all years ago (two of them autoflowering) with computer tower cfls and sunlight. Unfortunately the outdoor grow was abruptly put to an end after a 105 degree heatwave where I was unable to tend to them right away.

I got a little antsy and germinated my plants before my 4'x4'x80" grow tent and 1200w mars hydro LED lights arrive. The light may not arrive for another week or more. I have a sun blaze 44? light buried in a closet that I could be using, but I've decided to give them full sun in my backyard over the last few days (they germinated just under a week ago). They seem happy in the sun (all but one have their second set of leaves coming in), but my tent comes in 2 days I could use my cfl 20/4 if you think it might make a big difference over 10 full hours of sunlight). I could also give full sun for 10 hours and then 8-10 under the cfl.

They are growing well, but since the seedlings are sitting in a low nutrient medium (a coco coir/perlite mix, Readygrow Aeration) I decided to add a light dose of Flora Nova vegetative nutrients yesterday. The Jack Herrer Auto seemed a little unhappy with it and I've noticed the cotyledon edges seem a little brown/burned. Probably won't give them nutrients for another 10-14 days? I know autos prefer lower nutrients, so I'll back off for now.

Thanks for reading and I'm excited the browse the site for more info!

I know the transition from artificial lights to outdoor sunlight grows can be a little tricky (gradual is best), but has anyone heard of the reverse being an issue? Hopefully moving from sunlight to cfl/LED won't be too tricky (I'll probably keep the lights a little higher than I would if I had started with them).

Shouldn't be a problem but starting the lights a little higher is a good idea ... just for a day or two ...

What do you think.. keep it simple/natural with full sunlight, or should I start introducing cfls for a week or so until I switch them to LED? I'm worried about stressing them out by changing the light around so much, but want them to get large.

I wouldn't worry about stress going outdoors to indoors ... just start the LEDs a little higher than you might normally and lower them to your normal height over the next day or two ... I see you've got a monster light ... start it as high as you can and drop it over the next 3-4 days ... might want to limit hours of light the first day or two to only 16 hrs ... new lights are a little more powerful than lights that have done a grow or two ...

Hello Giant,

you will be pleased to know that from my experience, Auto's can be very forgiving. Just do what you can and enjoy your hobby.

If you have the means to control heat, I'd dust off that T5 and let 'er rip

Probably won't give them nutrients for another 10-14 days?
I'm a soil junkie, Friend, so I have no idea. I would swing by the Hydro section to see what the good folks are running, and what pH and ppm they recommend.
Happy Growing, from the East side of the Cascades!:greenthumb:
