Photoperiod First photo grow in 20+ years

After foolishly planting last three auto seeds in one pot, completely revised garden. Sweet Seeds Cream Caramel, accidentally ordered photos. First grows many years ago were stash seed photos (in the same closet). Trying to remember the differences. Once they (hopefully) sprout, start 18/6 light schedule. Is there a guide for transitioning?

Transitioning? Start seedlings on 24 hrs until the second set of true leaves. What medium are you growing in?

That's cool, thanks, hadn't heard of that. Is there any point in gentle light before they sprout? They could use a little more heat (64F). This Amare lamp has two modes, soft LED and blazing COB. Very handy. Transitioning from auto to photo.

The medium is Canna Terra, peat-based, soil-less. Use the whole Terra line after it rescued yet another distressed grow. Haven't been disappointed.

Seedlings cannot handle intense light as well they need to get their roots established first.

My lights go on from the time the seed enters the soil ... I use veg lights on LED from day one ... add in Flowering lights about 2 weeks after sprouting ... good luck w/ your grow

Gnats! Soaked medium in high-strength Gnatrol and still - gnats! Up go the yellow stickies. You can beat 'em back but you can't beat 'em. The shop where the medium comes from must be infested.

Getting antsy about germination. After about five days, do you gently brush away the medium to see what's going on? The first hasn't germinated. The second has. Didn't check the third. Sprouting some random feminized photo freebies, just in case.

I generally start digging w/ a toothpick about day 4 ... always a good idea to wet the area the day before ...

Diatomaceous earth works against gnats I believe. Just sprinkle on your soil.

Have to try that, thanks. Love air-pots, but you'd need something in every hole, not just the top of the soil. Haven't figured out how to do it.

Not sure what nutrients you are using, but in general photos can take a stronger nutrient mix than autos.

Some will not agree with me here, but I have been vegging out photos plants on 24 hours of light for many years and have done well with it.
