Live Stoner Chat First Post - First Auto Grow

OmG she’s beautiful! Nice photo, very well done. Those buds look luscious. Here is a peek at my one of my girls now, I just spilled something on her yesterday, I think it was straight ph down by the looks of it.

Lots of people on site using fox farms and AN with good success. If you’re open for a change and located in the western hemi, look in to Greenleaf Nutrients Megacrop at some point, highly regarded on AFN and currently sending out free samples. I’m using them myself this grow along with other assorted sundries.

I hate that you spotted her beautiful foliage! Maybe we can call that a "beauty" mark and remember her fondly. For sure I'll look into Greenleaf Nutrients Megacrop. I like to have a diverse group of products to compare.

Thank you @Rwg111. I'm certainly enjoying my new grower friends I'm making here on AFN. This forum seems like really good folks with a specific skill set I hope to learn more about. Good stuff!

I've had terrible luck with outdoor photos since I am in the "hurricane" zone in the southeast US. Last year I had 7 gorgeous Sativa plants not too far from harvest when we had back to back hurricanes that all but destroyed them. I salvaged some low trichome bud that was immature around a month too early.

Outdoor issues for a couple of years drove me inside and I just love it! I have so much more environmental control - plus no bugs and varmints nibbling on the plants is a heck of a plus to me. I can flip the lights to 12/12 and typically do a "pop to crop" in 4 months with some of the strains I enjoy.

With that said, 4 months really is a long term IF we can select auto flower plants that can shave a full month (or maybe even more) off the photo cycle. Depending on the strain and other factors, I calculate I can get in an extra grow each year if these autos work like I hope. The "unknown" part is what the total yield will be comparatively: What will 3 photo yields per year equal compared to 4 auto yields per year.

I have read that auto yields suck and the plants are fickle, hard to manage, are small and anemic...stuff like that. BUT I think breeding has improved so much at this point that Auto plants nearly rival the yields that a Photo can offer. Granted I cant keep an auto in veg for 8 or more weeks to grow a huge plant, but with all else being relative, I feel autos may be my next best friend. At least I'm going forward as the auto crop yield will be worthwhile.

I have some similar problems here in Michigan with the high humidity and fall rain. Autoflowers are my best friend. I still plant my photos but do not bank on a harvest. This community and the members within are here to help I assure you that. :d5: Before you know it you'll be harvesting the fruits of your labor and aboard the auto train for life. Tag me in if you decide to journal your grow. :smoking:

Oh yes, I'll start a grow journal for sure on this one!! I'll be sure to tag you along with @davisgirl - plus hope others will follow us as a support system. I'll have two new variables to manage in this grow including a nute change to Advanced Nutrients as well as this being my first auto grow with Northern Lights. Being in unfamiliar territory, I'll hope for good feedback with seasoned veterans watching over my shoulder. I'll be popping soon when I get back from a business trip later in March.
