First shot at super soil.

O dam that was a large list. I am going to be running this mix mostly for my photo plants and was going to try to adapt it to my autos but a dedicated auto mix might be a better idea due to there unique requirements. I will try the smaller of the lists first. All I need for it is the kelp, steer compost, worm castings and some coco. I could get some perlite too. Do I use the full bag of steer compost? Also I think my bags are 1.5 cf

3 cups bone meal( or 50/50 bulb and bone meal or 50/50 bone meal and a bloom granule)

1.5 cups kelp meal

3/4 cup blood meal

3/4 cup DE

1 rounded cup sweet lime powder

1 rounded cup prilled lime

1.5 cups soft rock phoshate

1 cup azomite and add all those castings.

now Id check the bags for their PH prior to any unforeseen issues man.

and add 2 cups oyster shell and a cup of crab and or combo of egg and crab or just eggshells crushed really well.almost ground up. and either an inoculate and some alfalfa is always good.

but honestly id buy a bag of steer compost and about 15-20 LB of castings and 5-7 gallons of coco and you already got the soil.so your well over half way for a full mix man.. ya got perlite?

well in all honest I can dumb it down again if ya'd like but if ytou want a living soil or similar to a fully living balanced soil these are the building blocks.you can omit an item or two but these will provide you with the rounded aspect of the goods and variation of a blended fully fooded (lol i said fooded lmfao) soil ready for essentially anything you wanna plant in it. the inoculate...and the simple harder materials ,perlite, coco, soil and castings.thats the base of most any simply made living organic mix..and ofcourse then there are teas too.i put together a fair thread in the organics section about what teas i like.

so do you want me to lessen the list?i thought ya had most of it already?bone meal,DE,lime? i know ya got soil..some coco coir, perlite and ya got some castings. just lemmw know whatcha wanna do man.

O no this will work for me. So do I plant directly in this mix. Or is it layered like the sub cool recipe I am trying? How much manure do I use? I think I can figure out the tea thing too. I figured trying organics would lead to me having to make teas. I have to learn to do it some time I guess. Thanks for all the help too I appreciate it.

I had a list similar to yours that EoF helped me fine tune and tweak; in mine at least I didn't need layers or anything, just a straight planter full of the super soil mix works wonders.

I will say that it tends to be a bit too hot for seedlings though; that was the warning advice given to me. I had some leftover horticultural vermiculite sitting around, so I just cut it with the soil (about 2 parts vermiculite to 1 part soil) to make a basic organic potting blend, and had no issues with nute burn.

Vermiculite has some risks depending on where its sourced and the like, but anything nutrient free and suitable for potting a seedling would do (jiffy mix is another popular suggestion, or sphagnum peat).

To use them, use a 16 oz drinking cup to hollow out a space in the soil of your pot, then dump the seedling mix or diluted super soil into that hollow space to make a seedling plug. Then you can plant the sprouted seed directly into it, or if you use root riot cubes or something similar you can plant them into the plug.

I also recommend after a week or two, once the soil has settled from watering and your plant has height, you top-dress with either more super-soil or some EWC. Good luck! You're in good hands down here, there's some very knowledgeable masters about.

I usually start in 16 oz cups and transplant anyways. I still have a little happy frog soil left. I have had great success with the happy frog as far as it dose not burn and has good PH but its not great by it self for full grow as it compacts like all hell. I will just use what I have for starting my plants in.
I added about 1/2 gallon of steer manure to my base soil yester day. Its only 1 bag of soil so I hope it will not be too hot.It had been sitting out for about 1 week on the top of my soil under some plants I had topped dressed. I don't know if it was too much but I did it. Also added 1/8 cup lime and 1/8 cup more crushed oyster shell to the mix. Next week I will look at getting stuff for teas like my pump and stuff.
I have a sister that grows for a dispensary in Oregon that was using the super soil layered like I had that was pulling 6-8 oz a plant with 3 plants per 600W light and only added water to them with no teas. That is what kinda sparked this idea of the sub cool recipe. Still going to give it a shot but I also want to try the TLO method as I think it will give a smoother smoke. There is a lot of hot stuff in the super soil and I don't think it works well with autos. I will also slowly try to get more stuff for the larger list of products so I can do this exactly as EOF recommends. Might have to start reading more Skunk mag too. With how much I go to the store and buy mags one at a time of various types I need to just get some subscriptions.
