First time grower harvest question

Hi everyone! Im new here and i am growing my first 5 plants (auto ak47) outdoor.
I planted them really late and I don’t really know why because I had the whole spring and summer. But anyways they are entering week 5 of flower and I’m wondering when I should harvest. I’m fine with not getting the optimal amount as it’s getting colder and more rainy and i dont want mold.
Do you think they will fill up a lot if i let them go for 3 more weeks or could i take the biggest buds in a week?

a bud is a bud when ya got no smoke :smoking: but theres a good 3 weeks left on them.provided the weather holds up ofcourse and that 1g bud that ya smoked could weigh 3g in 3 weeks time.
or just lob the top off,and have a think about cutting the rest next week

Those are no where near ready yet. I'd say at least another 2-3 weeks.

Get some clear plastic garbage bags to tent them with like a mini greenhouse when it gets cold and rainy. You don't want to leave them under plastic, but you can use clear plastic tents to extend the growing season a bit. Just don't cook them.

Thanks for replying @Archaic and @archie gemmill :smoking: I'll harvest the smaller ones in 3 weeks. The one i have in a 7 gallon pot is 4 times the size but a lot less mature, that one have to get at least a month more.

You don’t get an option to pick a date to harvest, the plant does that for you. You harvest based off of trichome development. Cloudy trichs is the head high (thc) amber trichs give you a body high (cbd).

Harvest to early and you will have sub-par smoke.
