I've got a very minimal grow going right now under a quantum board. I need to leave for a week and was trying to come up with a way to keep things going in my absence.

The pot is a 3 gallon mop bucket filled with perlite and osmocote. It takes about 2-3 days for the plant to use its water right now. I was thinking of putting the mop bucket inside a 5 gallon bucket and raising the water level to just over the drain hole on the Hempy. My reasoning was it'll just add enough extra water to hopefully double my time in between waterings. No time to get pumps or even dial a new system in so was hoping this might work.

I'm right at the end of flower, seeds are nearly mature. I feel much more confident leaving the grow with the LED setup, I'd never leave my hps unattended for a week but LEDs are another matter, I should be good to go right? The plant is less than 2 weeks to completion, probably will be done by the time I get back.

The other idea was just chopping, it's that close to complete but I did want to give it time to finish bulking and it is a seed run so even though I'm sure it'd finish them hanging upside down in a closet I'd rather let it finish naturally with extra time.

Anyone see an immediate flaw with my double bucket plan? First time doing Hempy and so far I'm really liking the hands free growing. And the osmocote is working a charm but I'm close enough to the end it wouldn't even matter since in other grows I'd already be in to flushing time.

Thanks for your thoughts

If you're using DWC a bigger rez will help you with feeding, but I'd be too paranoid with a PH fluctuation that could do some serious damage. Sometimes they can change in a matter of hours. I feel you'd also need a system to control and adjust the PH while you're gone. Unless you're using something like that AN PH perfect nutrients that balance themselves. I haven't tried them so I wouldn't know how effective they are and if you're not using them i wouldn't reccomend changing nutrients out of the blue.

I run a good bit of hempy's and actually done something like your talking about just with smaller buckets. Just because she was drying out too fast. I think you would be fine since she is so close to being done anyway. Also maybe covering bucket and lowering light schedule may help not dry up as fast.

Thanks great idea, I can knock it down to 11 hours on too, great idea.
