First time with autos

Hi AFN. Thanks for clicking the thread. New poster long time lurker. Gonna try autos for the first time for real. My previous forray I got 3 free auto seeds with the purchase of 10 photo seeds. 1 didnt germ, 1 germed and stalled at 2", and the other accidently washed away before germination in coco.

Anyhow I ordered a mix 10 pack from crop king seeds on 2-12-20 and recieved them in the mail today. Id like to start a journal and get all the guidance needed to make this successful. In the meantime I have a few ???s Im not sure about.
1. How big do autos typically get? Im on my third photo grow and just wanted perspective. How many in a 2×4? 4×4?
2. Is 18/6 ok? Or is 20/4 and 24/0 way better? How about 12/12?
3. Are they really that nute sensitive? I never started off with weak nutes on photos. I usually run 300-600 veg and 700-1300 flower. Will that work? How about daily dtw in coco? Does that work?
4. Pot size? In coco? In soil? Using 3s, 5s, and 10s with the photos. All fabric in 4×4 tents.
A lot of this information I already know from browsing but just needed final confirmation. Gonna drop 1 bean tonight in distilled water and plant tomorrow night in a jiffy cup in a humidity dome until seed sprouts then to final pot immediately. Cant wait to try more but I have full tents at the moment.

heya @Auto Tay and to the auto club! i grew a couple NL from crop king last year of course, they took 167d to finish, but, that'z a whole other story, lol

anyhoo, as far as how big autoz "typically" get, well, that'z one o' them ques'z that = a thouzand diff answerz, lol off the top o' me own stoned head, i'd say three determining factorz are strain, pot size, and topped/lst'd or not...eg i grow predominately indicaz in soil, uzually topped, in small 3L potz, in a 2x3x4' space, and with luck, cuz i like em that way, they'll get roughly 1 ft tall, 1 ft wide, and yield jus over an oz per, which, done in perpetual harvest format, workz out jus right for me own personal grow situ but of course, that'z jus me, so... i did actually jus do the chop on a topped ww x bb that got 23" tall, but that was becuz of the sativa in her genez, and anyway, she ended up fittin in the space ok & gave me 35gr, so all is good

most go with either 18/6 or 20/4 on light...i run 18/6 with ultra-low tech lighting & do ok, so...

i'll defer the rest to otherz & be gettin me coat now...:smoking: anything else u need, jus give a holler

1 Autos are generally much shorter than photoperiod plants. There is no one answer being that there are so many auto strains and varied grow tents/closets/environments etc. I was in a 4x4 tent previously, but went back to a 2x4. I've done both tent sizes several times. The 2x4 has 3 plants and the previous 4x4 I ran 4 plants. 6 would be just fine. However, I prefer room between plants.
2 I ran my old led lights with 3 watt /5 watt diodes around the clock. With Autocobs and quantum boards, I utilize the 20/4 light schedule. 12/12 for autos will be a debilitated grow. They will certainly grow though. There is no light restriction for autos.
3 Autos are notorious for burning fairly easily. Start with 1/4 the published amount for nutes and work up from there.
4 I ran 5 gallon pots when in soil. In coco, I use 3 gallon and 2 gallon. Airpots and fabric pots.

I grow in much smaller pots than most so my plants typically stay small even though I never top and just let them fight for light..seldom have one more than 16" out of pot.....I usually have 6-8 in my 2x3 tent with 2-3 finishing every month...been doing it perpetually for over 14 yrs.
As I usually run a photo or two alongside my autos...after vegging 24/0 in a separate area, I run my bloom lights 12/12.. No problem at all...even though I crowd my tent, use small pots, feed less than half nutes, run lights 12/12, my avg yeild is 2-2.5 oz per plant.
Controlling the grow environment has been the greatest asset in making worthwhile bud.
