I have very good connections and my buddy owns garden indoors in my area. If you notice any of your local shops not carrying Fox Farms soils anymore I can tell you why. They will only carry nutes if they're aware and the only soil that has been clean has been light warrior. So Fox Farms opened a new plant where they package there soil. The new plant got infected with a micro bug/root aphid that eats roots, hollows them out and travels up the plant eating it from the inside out. Any shop in the know is now not carrying Fox Farms soil so if your store is not carrying do not just think they're out and order online. You will receive the infested soil and not be happy at all. If your a fox farms lover like myself I have been using a very similar soil and I'm already stoked about the switch. I like the roots organic formula 707 and it's great. There's also the roots organic original, green lite and the Green fields. Just a heads up guys watch out. My buddy is one of the poor souls this happened to. I thought I read something about this earlier but for mr atleast now this confirms it for me. This guy is a close friend and his knowledge is second to none. Happy growing :peace:

Thanks for the heads up bro - I had heard lots of people were having issues using FFOF. Good to know the reason why :smokebuds:

Yea they always had gnat problems but so do a lot of soils. I could see past that. If
I remember correctly ( I was there 4 hours after closing, we locked the doors and privately shopped and smoked) they were bought by Scotts opened a new warehouse, stored soil outside then bagged and got infested. I'm using the 707 now and it's great so it is what it is.

Yea I'm not trying to bash them. I like light warrior, happy frog and have used ocean Forrest. This is more of making others aware that maybe aren't friends with there local hydro shops employees or owner and thinks "damn there all out" then orders it and gets an infestation and loses a crop. Wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy. Basically a better safe then sorry if ya catch my drift.

No shit? Damn. Well, guess I'm going to have to use something else as my soiless base mix. Buyouts ruin everything :(

Had some early aphids in my last FFOF grow - wiped 'em out with some neem-based spray for the most part, not sure they really caused the problems I had.

Just bought a bag of FFOF two days ago - no signs of anything with spray watering seedlings so far - roots look great. I guess we'll see if that changes.

I can't imagine FF will let this go on for very long, being a big staple of their business line. It's really the best pre-mixed commercial soil around here for auto growing IMO.

But being bought out by Scotts sounds really lame and troublesome.

Yea I only know what he was telling me as we were bulls*iting,
Smoking and shopping. I'm sure I didn't remember everything he was telling me and I'm sure not every single bag is infected. I just know he's not carrying anymore and he said some other shops aren't as well. My area Is one pinhead on the map so who knows how many people know or are not carrying it as well. He did say something about the main hub I believe in Cali is still clean or something along those lines but they're not taking any chances with all the complaints and problems.

His whole FF area was wiped out with just a few bags of
Light warrior that's how the subject came up. I was like whoa bro what's going
On here? The FF nute aisle was fully stocked. I'm not a big fF nute fan tho just there soils.

I can't speak to the aphid issue, but it's an unfounded rumor that FF was bought by Scott/Miracle Gro/Monsanto. The company has stated repeatedly that ownership has not changed, and there hasn't been a single document that anyone can produce proving that this occurred (fertilizer businesses in California are highly regulated). If you look around different cannabis sites, you'll see that it's been popping up for a while now and it's always 'I heard it from a guy' or 'the shop owner said something about it' or 'I got some inside info', etc. Not trying to call you out Captain Cure, and I'm sure you're accurately relaying what you were told, but that doesn't mean it was true. I was at my local hydro shop (actually a local chain of high-volume stores) this week and they had plenty of FF on hand. Now maybe they're knowingly ruining the crops of their customers just to make a buck, but they're good guys and I just don't buy it.

FYI, here's one of the replies from FF that you can find on the web. I have no dog in this fight, but this is people's livelihood we're talking about so it would be good to be sure there are facts behind whatever we're spreading around the Internet. If it's true, I say nail them to the wall. But I haven't seen anything to make me believe that it's true. Just my :2cents:. :peace:

Hello ******,

Thanks for contacting FoxFarm with your concern. No, FoxFarm has no parent or partner company. The rumors you may have heard are simply that – just rumors. Basically, Scott’s published a statement several months ago that they were interested in buying small soil and fertilizer companies that focus on hydro stores and independently-owned garden centers. This allows Scott’s to enter a market that normally they wouldn’t be accepted in. FoxFarm happens to be a company that sells exclusively to both hydro stores and independently-owned garden centers. So, when this article came out, we became a target. We know that there are rumors circulating that we are one of the companies that Scott’s is buying, essentially tarnishing our reputation as a small, family-run business and giving our competition an extra foot in the door to market their products. As I said, these are all just rumors; FoxFarm has not sold to nor has any plans to sell to Scott’s, Monsanto, or anyone. We will continue to make the highest quality soils and fertilizers available, and we will continue to be a small, family-run operation.

Thanks again for your concern and interest in FoxFarm, ******. Please let us know if we can help in any other way. Have a great day!
