Hey AFN spent last night at work reading a fairly bizzare thread over at rollitup. Some guy was growing mexican landrace sativas and talked alot about letting plants go through 4 different ripening stages, basically letting it dry and cure on the plant before harvest. Now I know about the thc breaking down when the trichomes turn from cloudy to amber and all that good stuff so that is not what I am asking here. I simply would like to know if anyone has let their plants go this far and what happened toke wise. Good chance this is 100% batshit but you never know. Im hoping someone here has tried this so I dont have to possibly waste 1 of my 3 ladies on a fools errand. Thanks guys and gals.

I would have thought the crop would go over, it's not cotton. I have let the pot dry out at the end, which helps the plant dry out a bit better do reduces drying time.

Het there Rollin, thanks for chiming in. By "go over" do you mean rot?

I gotta tell ya this is a new one on me! What I can say is that there are as many ways to grow cannabis as there are stoned farmers. I would continue to look for some additional backers to the process. Let us know what you find.

To be honest I can't find any first hand experience on this other than the thread on roolitup that I had mentioned. There was one fella that tried the method and reported that he did get a nice mellow high but I am a bit skeptical on the quality of the starting product. I've got some Mephistos ready for the chop in a couple days and judging from the trichs looks to be a real mind melter. Maybe I will just take one for the team and let the smallest one go and report back.

Maybe I'm not thinking right but maybe they are talking about whole plant curing where you chop and whole plant hang dry. Then as it's drying you start removing fan leaves 1st stage, 2nd stage start trimming excess sugar leaves, 3rd stage trim individual buds, 4th jar/final cure.

No, they were leaving the plant in the soil and letting it run through its full life cycle. Sounds crazy but he said the trichs turn gold eventually.
