I am growing in soil in 15 gallon fabric pots. My base was coots mix They have been sitting on a SIP reservoir for about 5 weeks. They also have mulch of 2" of barley straw. I started getting fungus gnats a few weeks back but thought the mulch would help control them but it did not and I got an outbreak. I have been treating with neem, for the past 3 days mixing it into the top 3" as I spray it on. This seems to have knocked them back but now I want to make sure they don't come back again. I have neem pellets mixed into the soil mix also.
Does this do anything to the good biology in the top of my soil?
Should I apply the name spray for another couple days to make sure the larva are under control?

they are also in my SIP which has medium pumice stone. I added mosquito dunks yesterday. what is a solution for keeping them out of the reservoir?

my neem spray
2L water
1/4 tsp liquid dawn. original
1/2 tsp 200x aloe powder
1 tbsp neem oil.

i have found gnat control to be a multi faceted campaign.........yellow sticky strips for the adults, Neem in the soil mix and mosquito dunks broken up into the top layers of soil. i also use a liquid anti larval product from India called MOS-KTOS...i believe it to be the same bacteria as in the dunks.
i tried the Neem oil but found it's application hit and miss, it is efficient but the mixing and application was a pain..l.o.l....
good luck.
