I plan to germinate seeds and place them into rapidrooter plugs to later transplant into hydroton.

What nutrient mix, if any, should be applied to the rapidrooter plugs in the very beginning stages of the plant's life?

Is it just water, or can I add other nutes like a rooting supplement such as Technaflora Thrive Alive B-1 Red? The Thrive Alive is recommended for a cutting for cloning purposes, but would it hurt a seedling?

Thanks!

Hummm,No responce as yet
Honestly I'm not a hydro grower but is something i've been thinking about
and was wondering the same. Maybe jump over and post in the New Grower
section might get a better responce, maybe even hollar at the fourm Mod ?
I'll bump it up try and get some help.

Hi there! Yeah I use just plain water for rapid rooters and it works just fine. Never tried with nutes at the beginning tho.:peace:

Some use a 50ppm high P I use micro and bloom to mix mine-- ph adjust--B vits- and micros @1/4 strength.

InHumboldt, you use 1/4 strength in the seedling stage?

Everyone else, when should I start nutes....3rd or 4th node? 1/4 Strength at that point?

Microblast is labeled 1/4 tsp per gal for seedlings. My nitrogen is "micro"-----micro-nutrients I called "micros" That would be Microblast. Also the 50ppm is 20 nitrogen the P and K are not rigid but add up to 30ppm. Marijuana is a potassium pig but seedlings need phosphorus so I run about 15-15. Around here we have serveral ready to use seedling mixes they are all 50ppm, 20 nitrogen but vary on the P&K.

Many local experts use strait ph adjusted water.

you should start with mild nutes when you get 3 leaf sets

Thank you Humboldt and highman for your info! I'm nervous, but I have to crack some eggs to make an omelet!
