Hey guys, so in a random turn of events the dust has settled which has given me the green light to get under way with my next project, so I thought I'd give you a run down of the equipment available to me and my plans so far.. I have a few queries and concerns as I have to make use of what is around!

The plan as it stands is to move into my larger tent which I'm going to assemble tomorrow morning and grow out my two remaining BAM seeds together.

Tent space - 160x160x200cm This is double the width and length of my current set up with an extra 40cm of head room.

Medium - This will be another DWC grow identical to my last attempt so I need to order another 30lpm air pump (I have access to 3 or 4 small air pumps until the big one arrives if there is any delay over the xmas period) Buckets are the same 20L oxypots you've seen everyone using.

Fans - I have a second extraction fan the same as my original one, just without temp controls, and a second carbon filter if my one doesn't do the job. Shouldn't be a problem.. I have other standard room fans for extra circulation if needed or for cooling the air pumps. I'm hoping to get hold of a second hand fridge as well to control the res temps but I think I will be fine over the winter for a short while at least.

Nutes - I'll be using the Canna range as I did the first time around. At some point I'll need to order some more ingredients for bennie tea but while the temps are cool we should be cool.

Lights - this is where I'm having a few concerns. In the near future and hopefully before the grow is over I will be able to afford upgrades for my ms006 modules but until then my plan is to start them off under one 006, veg them under one unit each and then in flower, (if I havent upgraded the leds) I have access to a 600w HPS which I could add into the mix for extra flower power. What do you guys think about that lighting arrangement? What would be the best option as far as hanging the lights goes? I was thinking since they would have an ms006 above each of them during veg, I could position the HPS in the middle slightly higher than the LEDs..

One more little question, I have access to both rockwool and root riot cubes so if anyone has a preference and why then hit me up :)

All comments/advice/input will surely be greatly appreciated, can't wait to hear what you guys think!

Right that's all I can think of for now as I've not had much time to ponder, I thought it would be a few months before I got started again..Let the fun begin :peace:

What are some of your current faves?

the only autos i've ever grown are Northern Lights Blue, Northern Lights, Royal Bluematic and Blue Automazar and they're all great. This grow the seeds have already been decided though! :peace:

I don't think you will have any problems with either rock wool or root riot, nice big tent to bro I'm envious.

Hi Pal23

Would be interesting o see if a hps and leds in the same tent helps solve the problem of cal / mag as most of us seem to get when they use only leds ..
Thought myself try it but can not fit everything in my tent

Good luck :)

DWC + Caning(Hazy style) !!!

I do love the cane technique but was thinking it might be best saved for my future photo endeavours.. Is there any such thing as "caning for dummies" ? Every time I attempt to read Hazy's thread they blow my freakin mind.. :peace:

Will probably go for the root riot just because I used the rockwool first time around :) And yeah should have plenty of space for res changes and stuff can't wait.. I was more worried about the light situation because I read you should double the lighting for the flowering period. I imagine the 600w HPS would do the job but I want to keep the lighting exclusively LED if possible. What do you think about upgradin the 2 middle modules on each unit for flowering? Would set me back £400 but should increase the output quite a bit? :peace:

That's a nice thought actually! :d5: The way things are looking the HPS may get introduced in flowering but I'm gonna do my best to upgrade my LED's just before flowering to keep the spectrum exclusive to LED :peace:

im sure Tang said this is due to toomuch light reducing lights form 20 hrs to 18 hrs seems to have rectified the cal problem with autos and leds, the full 20 is too much i guess no enoguh time at night to process the chemicals needed, eg
n particular, lowering the EC at night is most beneficial for calcium uptake - calcium uptake and distribution is favored at night when xylem sap pressure can drive water and calcium into the low or non transpiring tissues such as enclosed leaf tips and fruits. It is well known that calcium is incorporated into the inner heading leaves of vegetables and other plants more abundantly at night than during the day and this is also the case with calcium transport into tomato fruit.

thuss more hours of night will allow the plant to use calcium, 20 hrs light doesnt merely cover the need for it, so therefore adding more to your nute line is just un nessesary, as its there... just the plant can not use it.

works the same with us too btw, mag needs to be taken at night, to work in our bodies and a good sleep to make it work (although in humans if i take mag with calcium is cancels it out our bodies, eg a cup of tea of most pills for mag have calcium fillers, rendering the pill supliment useless ... useless fact lol want a good night sleep dotn have a cupa tea 2 hours prior to sleep )
plants can absorb calcium and mag together though, so dnt worry just my facts lol,
