How do you count nodes? Is it the first set of fans, first set of full fans or something else?? I never really knew how to count them. People talk about them and I am not sure what is accurate. THANKS!!
 
It is actually the space where a lateral branch comes off of the main stalk, so each set of branches that come off the main stalk has an internode. I will try and find a picture and post it for you

Yeah each location where leaves+branches comes out of a main stalk or (later) down a side branch is a node. When it's young, they don't always have the branches coming out yet, so you'll see just a pair of leaves at each node :)
