I am currently growing 2 photo plants at the moment, came home from work only to find out the lights were on when they werent supposed to be. So they got an extra cycle of light during flower. I already replaced the timer with the exact model, its a "heavy duty" GE 2 outlet mechanical i got from Home Depot. Im more in the market of something that isnt prone to fail. Any advice on dependable timers? Dont want to spend an arm and a leg, but dont want to have to worry about a hermi crop either

As long as you just give them a 12 hour dark cycle, you should be OK. Can't give you much as far as light timer advice though. I have been using a cheap one from the farm supply, for a year, and it works fine.
If you just had a longer light cycle than you intended, it should not cause any problems. Just make sure the next dark cycle is 12 hours long. Interruptions, in the darkness cycle, would cause stress, which can cause hermie traits to assert themselves. I have a friend, who uses 24/12 lightcycle, in his flowering room. He has one of those fancy computerized light timers. And he has no hermie problems.

Ill have to look for that timer piggy, mine litterally lasted 1.5 grows. it was only like 10 bucks so i immediately replaced it with the same. I do like the digital and programmable aspect of the one you linked. Glad to hear its been chugging along for you for 3+ years too!
