Got some soil.

Next grows base soil is mixed up now. 1 bag of roots mixed with 1/2 gallon steer manure and 2 table spoons lime, no worm castings. Will see later in grow how my bloom soil mix worked out and will mix that up in about a month.

So we are on day 19 or 20. You mess up purple kush and it will not yield squat for ya. I probably should have diluted my mix with some seed starter mix with it in my base soil. Red dwarf is coming along pretty good though. I will try to get a pic with out the HPS on in the next week if I can.

I guess it makes sense the PK is a light feeder when you compare it to the RD. The plant although taller has way less branching and leafs on it. Red dwarf handles being over fed pretty well. I might have to get more seeds of the strain because I like it a lot. It is probably the easiest auto I have ever grown. Its almost like growing a photo as far as nutrient requirements.

I still have about 4 weeks of veg left.

Here is an update. On day 23 or 24 I believe. Things are looking better. The purple Kush is not in the best spot for light as it is off to the side but doing ok. The high nitrogen in the soil is mellowing out and the new growth is not showing signs of toxicity so much. I think I have my thinking about what layer to put high nitrogen in back wards. I put it high in the base soil and light in the bottom mix. I put it light in the base and will also be putting it light in the bottom layer next grow but am betting I need to put high nitrogen in the bottom layer to get the plant to make it a whole grow and light up top. Makes sense being the plants don't start to put on size tell they pre flower. I am also thinking after I get the mix were I am happy with it I will try adjusting things to work in 5 gallon deep pots so I can position things better under my light. I need a grow tent so I can grow 4 plants at a time. 2 at a time is just a waist of my light.

Well here they are at day 29. The Red dwarf is doing awesome. Purple Kush, well... Its there. Was looking at grow tents today. I need to sell some car parts laying around so I can get one. I was going to save for a nice gorilla tent but I'm just not going to get there and am going to get an Ebay tent hopefully in time for next grow. A cheep tent will be way better than no tent. I need more plants at one time. My wife has smoked my last harvest already and the oil I blasted. I don't know how much oil I made but I kept 2.5 ounces of flower and blasted the rest of both plants. BOOM all gone. :crisps:

The plant you see the top of in the lower right corner sitting in front of the red dwarf is a photo I have in re veg. That is why it looks a little beat up.

One thing I am noticing in the red dwarf that I had in my last plant is a slight yellowing on the leaf edges and tip. Not a burn but a yellow. I think it is from something in my mix being too high. I will try to capture it in a picture in a few days or maybe later today. I had a great harvest and excellent flavor so it's not any thing I am concerned with but want to figure it out. Its hard to say now that I have started using amendments in my soil and got away from the bottles my plants turn colors more.

Ok so after looking up a picture while writing this I am sure I am experiencing a copper deficiency. I have had this symptom in a few plants over my years of growing. I use bottled water so maybe it has something to do with it and have had this problem with different soils. I am pretty sure my PH is good. I have not seen the other symptoms associated with high or low PH when I have this discoloring. I need to start doing some side by side experiments with my mix instead of doing a whole grow on one recipe. I would not call it a problem so much either as I have had this on some very good plants. Visually late in flower it looks cool. Just worried it is lowering my potency a little. It has never effected density so I don't think it is getting to the point of effecting yields but who knows. Not going to do any thing about it this grow or the next. Will see if some of my future changes to my mix correct the problem.

So the red dwarf is doing good. I see a little sulfur deficiency and believe it is either my manure or my bat guano being too high. I also looked back at my base recipe and noticed I added a lot more lime than the batch I have cooking and am adding 2 more table spoons to the mix for a total of 1/4 cup. Plant is around day 34 or so. Not too bad for being half way.

So the purple is doing fine but like said it is over fed and my soil is not good for it. This strain requires low nitrogen and I will be lucky if I get a little under 1 ounce from it, maybe 20g dried bud. I will also post some cool pictures of the deficiency's it is and deformity it has.
