Yeah, I understand that they said to use them early - I'm not sure why honestly, from a grower's standpoint it's not something that makes sense. They're products that promote the breakdown and deterioration of older roots for the microbes in place. We often feed our plants stuff because a bottle says we should - some times this isn't the best answer. Take for example in my first grow I used Fox Farms and their line up said to use Microbe Brew and Kangaroots through the entire grow. They've since switched their stance on this and use them in 2-3 key weeks of growing and discontinue one product when bloom starts.
As well, autos are a different monster - nutrient schedules are very rarely, if ever, tailored to autoflowering cannabis.
12" is better, you might even try going up to 14-16" and see if you get any stretch. It's clear the shop owner never used the light before.
Do you have any idea of the quality of your water? If you go to your water company's website (or tell me your water company) I can hopefully get you a link that you can get a report from so we can see the quality of your water.
Are you letting your water sit for 24 hours before watering to evaporate chlorine?
I'm really thinking your issues are from having the light too close. Make sure you're letting the pots dry between watering. Try to get your pH at least .1 or .2 lower than it is. You want to be around 6.5 ideally, 6.4 works.. 6.3 is some lockout but not 100%.
In Norway Epsom Salt is often referred to as "Magnesium Sulphate". Tell them you were told to get it to soak your feet for aches and pains.
I hope this answered your questions and look forward to your response.
