I attempted to do the hair straightener parchment paper thing. I pressed a couple of buds and all I ended up with was what looks like a couple of pieces greasy parchment paper. I don't see anything that can be scraped off. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. @Weedman30, @Ronin, care to chime in.

The lowest setting which says 330 for 10-12 seconds.

Temps are too high.. depending how much pressure you have 240 is a ideal temp .. I use a press now and press at 200

I had the same issue when I first tried pressing.. before I got my press, I was using a straightener with temps around 220-240 and press for 10-15 seconds if I remember right.. also had a 600lb hand clamp , def worth the 15 dollars

@Duckster What's RH is the bud your pressing?
Looks like there's too much moisture in your pics...
I'd suggest trying to press at lower temps as well.
Try turning the hair iron off just before you press.
This should allow the temp to drop into the optimal pressing zone:thumbsup:
As well you may want to try pre-compressing the bud.
When I was using a hair iron I would roll up a log of bud and cut it into 1"/2.54cm pieces the thickness of your small finger.
Perfect size for the iron to press efficiently.
Good luck on your next attempt:cheers:

Both buds were 50-55 rh curing over a month. One bud was on the fluffy side. Will find an iron that doesn't get so hot and give it another go.

Ok so I nicked the wife's professional hair straightener. Shhhhh - don't tell her or it's a beating for me to be sure. This one has adjustable temp every 10 degrees 170-410F. I pressed one bud at 240F and another at 210F. I ended up with the same thing that I had last time (paper with what appears to be a grease spot) except the puck did not smell burnt this time. I was able to smoke some of the puck and got a good buzz so.......
I pressed for about 10 seconds at each temp. Not sure how much pressure I was using, but I had most of my weight on it. I am using a 24lb (90g/m2) ivory parchment paper. I assume ivory means that it has been bleached. @Ronin and @Townbike what do you guys think?

I am almost too embarrassed to post this. I was doing some baking the other day. I was lining the cookie sheets with baking paper, when I noticed that it is AKA parchment paper. It was about then that I realized that I've been using the wrong kind of paper. I have been using a high quality parchment that is used for diplomas and documents of that sort.

I tried 3 strains with the baking paper. I did not get much off of the first 2 but the last one provided a BB sized glob of goodness. It was a bit more runny that I thought it would be so had to put the paper and tool in the freezer. Have not had a chance to try it yet.
