Don't give up after one failure!! try again. I know if my first grow fails I'm definitely going to keep trying until I get it right. I dumped too much money into it to just give up after 1 failure.

I agree with you on vision and freedom of seeds. Don't forget 00 seeds and female all great quality seed for low prices. But my question do you have anything to back up your statement about green house seeds? We try not bash or say anything bad about a breeder if we don't have proof to back it up, bribing judges is a big deal I'd like to hear more about it.they resentlly got a new owner so are you saying that about Arjan or the greenhouse brand in general?

Got a new job and life's stresses have been interfering with my plans to sprout a couple of seeds. Im in the middle of getting set up, I will be using 2 30w cfl bulbs and sprouting 1 big bang and 1 lowryder 2. The seed company threw in some hawaiian dream and strawberry cough. I will give this op all that ive learned and hopefully, in 3 months I will be posting pictures of a carrier bag of weed.

Wish me luck, any advise just post it to this dead thread.

im changing things up.

on saturday i will be germing 2 low ryder 2s and 1 big bang. my homemade cabinet is big enough to cater for height and 3 plant pots. No fancy equipment for monitoring temp or humidity coz when this stuff grows out naturally where d fuk u gona get a thermometer that big?

im taking the risk of going without a filter for the smell. If it does get bad I will add coffee bean cups and charcoal to the cabinet. No one will smell it unless they enter the room, no one goes there and it is hidden within a cupboard.

the lights im using are 2 X Low Energy Spiral 30W BC / B22 - Daylight by casell...cheap and cheerful at £15 for both.

I am open to cheap filter alternatives to mask odour. Any advise?

my Plant Magic soil and oldtimers has arrived. Just need to find a decent sized pot for the lowryder2 and big bang to go in the cabinet! Off to b&q or wilkos tomorrow morning....

For £30 quid you can get 300w CFL dual spectrum just google dual spectrum cfl grow light there are plenty of place to choose from.

I did a quick search round the web and charlies hydro on Ebay do a Ruck 4" fan + ducting & budget filter for £80 quid, I have used Charlie's Hydro a number of times and always had a good experience. So that's £110 quid for a light , fan, ducting and filter.it might seem more than you want to pay right now ,but it will pay for it's self in bud at the end of your grow, you can always save up to buy better kit for the future along the way.

cheers for that AZ...i had to 65w in my cab but th3 heat was too much...the bulbs broke after that so for my LR2 im using 2 x 30w and when it gets bigger ill add some more 30w to spread light evenly to the hopefully beautiful LSTd plants

Good air exchange is what you need if temps are getting a little high.
I'm not sure the size of your grow space but I am guessing if a 250w Cfl is making it hot you could do with drawing more air through.
I have grown in small cabs and the 4" ruck will easily do the trick.
There are lot of grow room calculator on the web, just google for them, not sure if AFN has any as i haven't look yet They will tell you how much air you need to exchange, the more fresh air coming into you room the more available co2, a lack of air exchange means available co2 can easily be used up, which will result in slow growth, higher temps and higher humidity. The more fresh air moving through you cab will also help reduce the risk of mold.
I have also grown with the smaller size cfl's and had good results, check out "trumpet bulbs cfl" & Umbrella bulbs cfl" on google/ebay. They have a slightly different shape, kinda flattened so they can be hung vertically rather than horizontal to give the best spread of light.
