Indoor Growing Scrog

I've got a question/need advice. I'm still not great at reading the plant. How can I tell when the stretch is ending and I need to stop tucking? It's only been 8 days since pistils but I want to be a step ahead.

Apologies if this has been talked about already. I still haven't read every page here. I saw someone using clips for the main top bend but they also work pretty well once under the net. I'm not a fan of adding the wire for tucking so I used some clips to keep tips horizontal. Is there negatives to this that I'm not thinking about?

There might be a better way, but the only way I've found to keep the tops down is to use plant ties like you see in the images. The tops want to rise up so much every day, that I have to move the ties every morning. If you crimp them very tightly, which sometimes requires needle-nose pliers, they will 'catch' on the knots in the net strings, to keep them in place for a day. If they are not crimped, the plants just push them aside in a few hours and the tops rise up ...

I just don't like putting the wire in. Seems like I'm roughing up the surrounding plant when twisting and trying to get it in place.

My thought was to use the clips when a tip is just out of reach the next square or when it's just past the square and isn't being held down. I'll still have to adjust clips daily and when the tip has grown enough to tuck I'll remove the clip.

I hear ya'. But as you noted earlier, after HST and a recovery day or three, it's amazing how much loving abuse these plants can take.

Have you thought about using a metal frame, this solves all your growing niggles but creates others on the back end of the grow.
