I would like to find a way to turn all of my material into a vegetable glycerin/propylene glycol based hash oil for use in my e-cig, rather than smoking the plant material. The question is..What would be the best process? If successful, this would be my preferred method of medicating (stealth meds!!). Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Short answer is I've tried it every-which way and it didn't work.

I heated up my VG in a water bath and dissolved BHO into the VG. The problem was once the VG/BHO mix cooled down it separated, no good. The E-cig tanks can't take it or warm it up enough for it to be affective.

On the bright side if you live in a MJ friendly state you can by it for e-cigs. I've never tried it though.

the e cigs suck. Yeah our clubs sell them preloaded with oil glycol mix. 5050 cut. So when people buy the .5 gram cart its really .25 gram of hash for 50 bucks. That's 100 gram! I used to buy the empty carts (expensive) and fill to vend to the stores. I don't like the e joints cuz all u get is a baby hit. I've been making hash and hash products for 20 years. All forms of concentrate baby!! I sell vapepens with a glassglobe on it that u put your wax or oil in a ceramic / titanium coil. Put the globe back on push button and watch the smoke boil out. I don't where your from but we dab on glass or titanium nails connected to a bong. But its big gotta use a torch ... Its a whole process. Cool but like right now I'm kicked back and all I gotta do to take a huge ass cheesequake wax hit is put my lips to the vapepen and inhale till I can't take in anymore of the sweet cheese danish flavor smoke. I have a phd in extracts so if you have any questions its a passion of mine

VG is a great solvent, but it takes time to work. Even working with VG-based flavors for my e-cigs, the liquids will still take 7-10 days to blend enough to create the flavor I'm looking for. Some VG hash makers will let their blend sit for up to 6 months to blend correctly. Is your oil winterized? You can speed up the process a bit by dissolving your BHO in high-proof alcohol first, then blending your alcohol with your VG, let it sit for 1-2 weeks until fully combined, then slowly cooking the alcohol off (in a very well-ventilated area with no open flame) until you're left with just the amount of VG you're looking for. If you decarb your BHO first and leave 10-15% alcohol, you can even use the blend as a stealthy breath spray. I like to use cinnamon or mint flavors when I do that but it's not necessary.

Yeah ratatoskr that is the best way.why not skip all that and consume the meds pure? Are u making it to vend to clubs? Put a product on shelves with a lot of marketing and people will buy, till they figure out it is twice the price. Making for yourself negates that issue. But help me understand why you are not just taking your bho co2 icewax dab and throwing it in pen and smoke on?

For me personally, all my meds stay with me and friends. I don't process this far all the time, but what I enjoy about doing it is the convenience and challenge. Since I use an e-cig already I like the convenience of being able to dose whenever and wherever I want without carrying even more gear (as an e-cig user I already carry plenty of gear on me every day, I really don't need more). I can control the strength and can dose small but continually or large and occasionally, depending on my mood or circumstance. I like taking some and making breath sprays for the same reason. Since I don't smoke anymore all my greens get made into edibles or concentrates which get shared or gifted, and some friends enjoy the variety. But most of all I just enjoy the challenge. I have no problems vaping the BHO as is in its own pen, but I like the challenge that making it even more covert or practical. And since I'm not in a med state at the moment, covert is a great option to have.

Also, a less explored option that I believe needs research is that different routes of administration can present different effects. An alcohol-based VG tincture/spray seem to have great mood elevating/antidepressive effects that other ROA's don't seem to have. That makes sprays and tinctures my favorite way to dose, and regardless of if I take enough to get royally ripped or just a nice buzz, the effects seem to be far more interesting than most edibles or vapes.

That totally makes sense. Dual usage and stealth. I've never smoked cigs and I am in state where maryjane is finally legal for all!! Its been a year now and it really makes you relaxed and its easy to forget how bad the laws are in most places. Its really open here. Stop at a light and look over and about 30% of time they are smoking bowl joint or pens. I mean young and old. Don't waste anymore moments and come on over. Fellow concentrate lovers are welcome to enjoy the freedom. I'm interested in the spray. The different flavors.

I feel you there! "Basement Bombing" my juices and takes forever to be ale to get the REAL flavor. Then find I don't like it and have to start again. I plan on doing my whole crop that way, if I can find a viable way to do it. Which method is the best for decarb? I've seen a few...

You mean they have BHO vaping pens?!?!?! :Holy Moly:

I'm down south in cattle country. As the name states. ;)

I've watched some videos on how to make a VG tincture on the stove and then one using tincture in an ecig like regular juice. I'm concerned about potency. Is the 160 deg temp enough to decarb it during the process? And last, to powderize or "chop"? is powderizing in a blender necessary? Don't necessarily want plant material clogging up the works after it's all done and don't want to waste "potency".

I've lived in med states before, I'm a bit of a gypsy. I think my favorite was living in SF, because that city was built on pot and psychedelics. My upstairs neighbors at my job were lawyers, and the celebrated 'high noon' every day. We shared a ventilation system, so we got some interesting looks. Folks were smoking wherever you went, especially around the gorilla enclosure at the SF zoo for some reason. The bird of prey and ape enclosures were real popular in SD, too. I'm moving back to a med state soon, so that won't be an issue much longer. I already have some Blue Dream and Casey Jones cuts lined up for the move to get weight while staying within legal plant limits. I also hope to work with some SSSDH and pure Durban, but those will take some effort to make work. There are plenty of genetics on your side of the country that are kept real close, close enough that most commercial growers and 'Green Rush' transplants or new-school elite collectors don't even know exist. I'm hoping to find some of those that may work in my climate from old friends in the know. I guess we'll see how lucky I can get.

Are you looking to work with your bud, or with hash? The decarb will be different for each, and the route to get to a vapable VG liquid will differ as well. As a general rule for hash or BHO I put them in a ramekin tightly sealed with thick aluminum foil, and put them in the oven at 250 for 20 minutes, including the warm-up. I then let it cool in the oven, and usually don't unseal until after I wake up. This keeps as much of the terpenes as possible in the hash where they can work their magic. With fresh bud, I do much the same except I don't start the timer until the oven is fully warmed up. Depending on the amount of bud, you may need to extend cooking time to 45 minutes.

The temps can also vary by the oven. Tiny apartment ovens tend to burn hotter than labeled, in which case I wouldn't go over 220 degrees for either material. I'm sure elevation may play a role, as age, moisture, and quality of material all do as well. It can take a bit of plying with to get it just right, but the payoff is worth it.

What type of e-cig rig are you using? Variable volt, variable watt, old-school Kanger 510 carto, Bloog 808, clearomizer, 306 atty, etc? I use a bottom-coil Evod or a Kanger T3 on an ego twist, so what works best for me may not work best for you. The technique doesn't change much, but the concentration and materials used can differ. You can customize the end product completely around what you use already, so why not take advantage of it?
