Hello ladies and gents. I figured I should formally introduce myself. Though I have been into canna for a long, long time a decade old neck/back injury has changed my focus on my needs for the plant. My search for the ultimate medical painkiller autoflower strain brought me to this site. After reading tons of positive things about the dragon strains I am going to get some and give them a go outdoors next spring. Though I have experience with photo's I am quite inexperienced in growing autos and am looking to learn as much as I can to improve. Our growing season is good, but short(June 1st- Oct 1st) so autoflowering plants and early photos are the only plants we can grow outdoors. Photo's start on April 1st under X4 T8 4foot fluorescent lights.
Other than canna I also grow a large garden that mostly sustains our food throughout the year. Strawberries, Blackberries, Yellow raspberries, Black raspberries, Squash, Turnip., Lettuce, Potatoes, Watermelon, Kale, Swiss Chard, Tomatoes, Carrots, Beans and peas and all grown in fair quantities.
Other than growing things I also love the outdoors in general. Camping + fishing is my favorite way to spend time outside.

Great to meet you all!

Welcome to the AFN Family, 912GreenSkell! :toke:
I see you're already on top of the Med forum and researching Dragons. :d5: You're willing to do homework and ask questions, and those are the critical steps so many people overlook. Be sure to check out the top of the New Growers forum for articles and advise on autos, and to check out current and past grows. It'll give you a great overview of what leads to spectacular harvests, and mistakes to avoid.
You'll also find a lot of folks in here who are just as passionate about growing veggies.:greenthumb:
Have fun, meet the crew, and we're looking forward to seeing you have a successful start with the autos!
:peace:,

I've grown autos twice now and have had limited success, but without a doubt that'll all change!!
That's what we're here for, Friend! They're a blast to grow, and the genetics have made incredible strides in both taste and yield. They tend to be a bit on the sensitive side, and unlike photos time lost on an auto is pretty much time lost forever.
I would strongly suggest starting a grow journal well before you crack your beans. that will give you a consolidated area for bouncing ideas off of us, including any gear you may need. Lights, soil, nutes, etc. You'll be a fine tuned growing machine by spring.... unless you REALLY get the bug and decide to maybe kick things off sooner with an indoor garden. :muahaha:

Nice to have you,we have the same avatar dude ,i guess that makes us brothers from another mother.LOLHey man we are all brothers and sisters here.I have broken neck syndrome also. After my last surgery,i was forced to retire, from nursing and farming.I,ve found some really good auto strains for pain and insomnia. My little hobby has helped me cope with the boredom and keep me busy. You can not find a better site.Peace.

Red- Yes exactly. Any growth time lost with photo's is a minor setback, but time lost with autos is major. The plants were doing great for the first 4 weeks until they went outside and the weather turned out to be cool and damp for 3 weeks which hurt overall growth and yield. Unfortunately I don't have much of an indoor area to grow in(54 long"X 18" wide X 34" high).

Robbio- Sorry to hear about your injury. Neck pain is literally a major pain in the neck!! Can you head over to this thread and post your favorite strains for pain as I am very interested in hearing what works for you!

Welcome! Looks like you have similar weather to my area, although by October, everything is frosted and dead usually. I grow the same crops you do, and a few others in a greenhouse. This is a great group of folk here, and you'll learn lots. An added benefit is that you will become a better all-around gardener because of what you learn here. I have, and I've gardened for decades. Again, welcome!

My favorite strain is Candy Kush.I can vape it day or night, good for daytime pain or at night about an hour before bed,This strain is very medicinal .I can work out during the day and relax at night. You get lots of resin production, very sticky. It is an easy plant to grow, very forgiving.I have been able to function much better.I think this strain has some OG Kush genetics in it.That is my humble opinion.Peace.
