New grower here, just ordered a 2x4x6 tent and need some help picking the right light.
My main concern is electricity consumption. i will be running everything off of solar, and need to be very careful with my watt usage. i'm looking for something in the range of 150 to 250 W of actual draw, max.
That said, i'd like to get the most bang out of my Watts (without getting too crazy breaking the bank).
Also, since electricity is a luxury, the cooler the light runs the better, as ill save on the ventilation end.

All suggestions greatly appreciated!

Research Cobs and Quantum boards as these will be your 2 best options, both are great so you will just need to decide which is right for you, I have a 2x4x8ft tent and I'm running a 265w Quantum board which can be dimmed, I have hung the driver (which creates the most heat) at the top of the tent with a rope rachet which keeps the temps down as the actual light doesn't get hot at all, plus they are thin so you can maximise the height of the tent

Check out pacific light concepts . Com . They got Samsung strips with 4 Cree far red chips for flower enhancing, they are $27 per 40 watt strip . 8 of those & a HLG 320 or 480 driver would work . Then you would need some aluminum L channel for the frame & U channel or heat sinks to mount the strips to . Then some electrical supplies like 18G wire , wago connectors & a power cord . Check out ledgardener.com for a build tutorial. Good luck man & have fun! Solstrips also has great options in strips, they have triple row duel spectrum strips 2700k/4000k or something like that . They also have far red & royal blue strips you can mix with the white strips for enhanced spectrum. Peace

Quantum boards are a good option too . Cobs work great to , but they remind me of a flip phone & I’d rather have a iPhone lol.

Yep, spent all night researching and finally settled on the these. They are the perfect match for my needs.
Since this system will be running on off grid solar i really need to make energy consumption the focus of this grow.
Any Watt saved is huge, and will allow me to run longer veg cycles.

These are perfect because i get good bang for my Wattage buck, light wise, and its easy to start small and expand from there. i'll be starting with two lights on two plants, and eventually getting a third depending on the final draw of the complete system.

i'm mostly limited by the size of my battery bank, but not the solar array, so i plan on running the light cycles during the day to minimize the amount of time the lights are running while the sun is not out. it'll make this grow a little more challenging as i'll have to monitor consumption closely. However, since the panels produce more power on any given day than the battery bank is able to hold, i have a bunch of extra electricity during the daytime once the batteries are filled, therefor i could add several extra high wattage lights that run only from, say, 10am to 5pm.

I just did the same... and then placed my first order on Black Friday.

I say first order because it seems every person who grows with them gets addicted and goes back for more

:crying::cheers::crying:

You will have to start a grow log in his section... you might be the very first solar AutoCob grower

Good Luck

You will definitely not regret the autocobs. They are a great versatile lighting option. I own them and hopefully Santa is bringing me more for Christmas!:thumbsup:

If you want to try traditional led, maybe you can look at reflector 720 led, this light is in the market for more than 5 years. You can see many good feedback on Youtube.
