hey everyone,

I picked up about 20 cpu coolers at a garage sale for 1-2$ a piece. The only problem is, most of them have 3 or 4 wires, and the fans that are currently on my drivers have two. The drivers are out of a viparspectra 900w. Any ideas how I can wire these fans to the drivers?

Thank you!

Hey now,
Usually the red and black wires power the fan and the other(s) are usually speed control or something like that. Red wire to red wire or whatever color + is and black to black or - . Not sure about your driver, maybe someone else can chime in. As long as the voltage and stuff matches. Pc fans usually run at 12vdc. I usually run them at 5vdc to keep them quiet and use some of my ever growing collection of USB power supplies... and I size stuff accordingly.

I'd use the black and red and cut the rest they seem work for me that way the others is for speed control..But mine u can't hear it running....

What you planning on doing? I imagine some nice KAHBS will be lovely. I still have my very first 18² Citizen 3500k running on a single PC heatsink rig quite similar to the pics above.....jamming at 52w and hasn't missed a beat. Without a doubt the most economical way to get into chip on board goodness....good score bro, I woulda cleaned em out as well. But...once you go passive pinfin or blade type Mechatronix passive, you will look at the small active ones with squinty eyes. I promise. [emoji535]
