Hey people,

This is my first attempt at growing and I reckon this is the place to be as I'm growing autos and from what I can make out they confuse a few growers!

I'm trying to grow Biodiesel Mass and I have made a few mistakes to say the least, however they are hardy little fellows and even after my abuse they are still with me, just.

I planted the germinated seeds in rockwool cubes 32 days ago today, they are now standing about 25cm tall and really not bushy at all.

I have six plants all in 15 litre airo pots filled with bio bizz coco, on a run to waste drip feed hydro system, they are under an adjustable 400w 600w or 1000w (currently switched to 1000w) HPS lamp on a 20/4 cycle.

My concern is I've stunted their growth so much that running 1000w 20hrs a day is now a waste of money and I'd be better off starting again?

I've attached a couple of photos and as you can see my edges are curling as well?? the tent is pretty well ventilated and even with 1000w the temp is a pretty steady 80deg and humidity is around 50%

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mate, I'd say the curling up is heat stress, that 1000w is gonna be hot as shit. Personally, I'd say stick to your grow and learn from your mistakes. Someone with more experience will come along soon I'm sure.

What medium are you in now? Whats your ph at? BigJohnny is right stick with this and learn from it they really arent doing to bad. Have they showed sex yet? What kind of ventilation do you have going on in there?

Hey BigJohnny,

I did think that, and it probably is the case, however I have the light a safe distance away and with the temp not going above 80deg I thought I was in safe ground, I've gone for the 1000w option as I read that the more light these little fellows get the better, maybe I'll go down to 600w??

The more light the better yes - generally. But there's an optimum light to space ratio, go above that and it's a waste and could even cause problems - like heat stress. I'll try and find you the link to some useful light/lumen info.

Hello Mr Goods,

They are in coco, my ventilation is out 850m3 per hour and 530m3 in with a 4.5amp twin temp controller. Sorry should have mentioned, I went for the lazy option and brought fem seeds. The ph in my nute tank is at 6.3.

Kinda glad you have both said to stick with it as it would break my heat to bin them we've grown close over the past month!

I'd say dial it down to 600 for a week or so and see if it helps... It won't hurt them to try. How big is your grow space?

Welcome to AFN and the New Growers forum. I agree, I wouldn't give up on them yet either. They could be suffering a little heat stress, maybe over fed a bit as well. How old are they, what are you feeding them and at what strength?

Take a look at this thread, I think it will be helpful for you: https://www.autoflower.org/f44/life-cycle-auto-flowering-cannabis-5113.html
