Hey!
Pardon me if you posted this already, what size is your space? Either of those should cover if kept far enough away. I am using a 240watt LED with 10 23watt CFL in a 40"x40" covering three plants and they are doing well. Sorry I have not used an HPS so cannot offer an opinion.

IMO its LED, since i swtiched ive loved it, i dont have to deal with heat issues and for me all these years that has been #1 issue so asking me its a no brainer with the advances in the new LED's "My 2 cents"

-sir grow a lot: only question I have now is I'm looking to spend a minimum of 150$ on a lighting system looking for the best wattage and led light there is could you guide me to some efficient LEDs that fit my requirements? Also how many plants could I fit under that wattage. Will be using led from start to harvest if that matters.

Would this work good? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1391708435.905371.jpg

Lights like that are not recommended, if one breaks down prob the whole light stops working!
No brand and cheap =means cheap components= not the results you are looking for!
I can recommend to go for brands like GN, fero, etc.. otherwise probably bad impression what leds can do for you!

If you are on a tight budget, HPS makes a lot of sense.

A rule of thumb is 50 watts/sq foot. So what is the sq footage in your grow space?
What are you doing for ventilation and filtration?

If your budget is low, then HPS is the best route to take. Dollar for dollar, you will get more lighting from HID than LED, but you will get an increased heat footprint and require additional cooling in most situations. A 300W LED will not give you the same results as a 600W HPS, more like a 480-520W worth of HID.

If you go with the LED, don't go cheap - expect to spend $350-450 on a LED suitable for 6 plants and your space. What's the most you can spend on the light and do you need any other equipment still?

Got all my equipment just deciding on a light. I finally chose the 600w hps because all the LEDs I'm looking for are way out of my price range. My rooms sorta unlimited but if you want to be technical it could be around 25ftx20ft. Will be putting fans/Dehumidifiers/ and humidifiers to get the recommended temp and humidity.

25ftx20ft.

500 sq ft.

So in HPS, as much as 2500 watts. I would suggest looking at a 1000 watt kit.

However, 600 is usually more energy efficient than 1000.... so maybe get a 600 now,
and then another 600 (or led) later.
